Abstract:
Catalytic performance of Pt-promoted zeolite catalysts in alkane isomerization highly depends on the synergistic effect between metal and acid sites. Traditional impregnation synthesis leads to large and nonuniform Pt clusters on external surface of zeolites. An approach based on the Surface Organometallic Chemistry concept was employed to controllably synthesize Pt/H beta catalysts. The grafting of dimethyl (1,5-cyclooctadiene)platinum (II) at the surface of dehydroxylated H beta surface and hydrogenolysis of surface organometallic compound result in small Pt clusters (1.73 nm), which are uniformly dispersed on the mesopores of H beta zeolite. The achieved Pt/H beta catalyst shows high activity and stability in n-butane isomerization.
