Abstract:

New optical coordinated complexes CuxNi1-x(C2H6N2O)(6)SO4(x = 0.31, 0.49, 0.66) were synthesized and the single crystal Cu0.66Ni0.34(C2H6N2O)(6)SO4 (I) was selected for characterization. FT-IR and Raman spectroscopic studies were carried out to identify the various functional groups present in crystal. The crystal structure I was established by single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique (CIF file CCDC no. 2068488) and the complex belongs to trigonal system, R (3) over barc space group. TGA-DTA measurements showed complex I remains stable until about 180 degrees C. UV-Vis spectrum of complex I exhibited three absorption bands in ultraviolet, visible and near-infrared region, respectively, which was attributed to d-d, L-M and pi-pi* transitions absorption. Moreover, the absorption peaks of I have a distinct bathochromic shift (20 nm) compared with M(H2O)(6)(2+) units (M = Ni, Cu). The photophysical properties allow it to selectively filter yellow-green and blue-violet light.
