Abstract:
We present an all-metal metamaterials for high-performance refraction index sensor, consisting of an array of all-metal nano-mushrooms with three-dimensional nanocavities. The nanocavities could greatly increase near-field optical field and therefore light can be extremely confined into the nanocavity, leading to a prominent enhancement of near fields. As a result, the sensor shows significant color varying with small refraction index changes and the sensitivity is 453.71nm/RIU. The demonstrated all-metal metamaterial offers great potential for microscale imaging and high-performance optical sensing. Copyright © (2018) by Chemical and Biological Microsystems Society.
