Abstract:

The influence of cordierite binder on the dynamic fatigue process of mullite ceramic was investigated by the method of asymmetric sin wave dynamic load variation. The damage parameters defined by the method of system analysis were used as major evaluation indexes, and The factors influencing the fatigue characteristic of mullite ceramics was discussed by the crystal structure and microstructure. The content of glass phase has greatly affected the fatigue characteristic of mullite ceramic. The results showed that certain amount of glass phase can accelerate the densification, improve the strength of the body, the anti-fatigue property of the material is improved. However, due to its loose and irregular structure, the glass phase often becomes the weak link of fatigue crack, so redundant glass phase can shorten the fatigue life of the ceramic. When the adding amount of cordierite is 12%, and the content of glass phase in the system is 33%, the fatigue life of mullite ceramic is maximum (12 kilocycles).
