Abstract:
20-inch printable Monochrome. field emission display (FED) prototype was developed. The FED panel was fabricated by using thin film sputtering, screen printing, and cathode activation technologies. The cathode of FED prototype was activated with low work function materials. The activation process could effectively lower the work function of the cathode surface and therefore dramatically increased the electron number emitted from the cathode. That is, low work function material could be an important candidate for the cold cathode to develop second generation FEDs. The prototype thus fabricated could show video images and moving pictures. In this paper, the characteristics of the cathode and panel were also described.
