Abstract:

In this work, LaVO4 nanocubes (LVNCs), prepared through a facile hydrothermal method, were fabricated as efficient biomimetic catalysts, displaying exceptional peroxidase catalytic activity. In the presence of H2O2, LVNCs presented an efficient catalytic capability in promoting the oxidation of the colorless 3,3 ',5,5 '-tetrame-thylbenzidine to its blue derivative. The catalytic behavior of LVNCs follows a typical ping-pong mechanism, and its catalytic mechanism can be attributed to the fact that H2O2 gained electrons under the catalysis of LVNCs to generate strongly oxidizing center dot O2-. An exquisite colorimetric platform based on LVNCs was thus constructed for the rapid detection of H2O2 and glucose. The linear ranges for the quantitative detection of H2O2 and glucose were 2-30 mu M and 5-100 mu M, with the detection limits of 0.067 mu M and 0.83 mu M, respectively. The colorimetric platform demonstrates a superior catalytic activity, remarkable sensitivity, resistance to interference, favorable stability and reusability, and excellent practical samples testing utility, thereby holding great potential in complex environmental and food analysis.
