Abstract:
The main bridge of a Huanghe River Bridge carrying a section of the Gaoqing-Shanghe Expressway is a concrete-filled steel tubular(CFST) tied arch bridge with four continuous spans of 190, 260, 260 and 190 m. The arch is fixed with the piers instead of the deck. The total deck width reaches 43. 2 m. The two parallel CFST truss arches are connected by K-bracings and Warren-type bracings, and rows of studs are installed inside the nodes of the tubes to improve the fatigue life of the arch. At the arch springings, each hanger point contains two compacted steel wire hangers(namely the short hangers No. 1 and No. 2), the remaining hanger points incorporate one compacted steel wire hanger. Three groups of a total number of 24 ties are installed to balance the arch thrust. The deck System consists of two main steel 1 longitudinal girders, steel 1 floor beams and steel I stringers, and all the components are connected by high-strength bolts. The 24 cm-thick precast C50 concrete panels were jointed via pouring microexpansion concrete. The skewbacks are trapezoidal steel-cladding concrete struetures. The piers are reetangular hollow piers supported by bored piles. To balance the load bearing performance of the structure and multiple factors, including construction safety- quality* schedule and economy, the deck was installed ahead of the arch, and the ties and hangers were tensioncd in batches. The structural strength and stability of the main bridge as well as the load bearing behaviors of the skewbacks were numerically calculated and validated, using spatial link elements and solid elements respectively. © 2025 Wuhan Bridge Media Co., Ltd., MBEC.
