Abstract:
In this letter, a novel passive current balancing method is proposed, which combines the usage of inversely coupled inductors (ICIs) and parallel resonance, to achieve current balancing of multiple phases. The ICIs can be designed as intertwined windings in a two-by-two manner, which is easy to expand and can improve the space utilization. Capacitors are added to form parallel resonance with the ICIs. In this way, the phase currents can be balanced. The inductor-capacitor-capacitor series compensated wireless power transfer system for electric vehicles is adopted as the application scenario. An experimental prototype is built to verify the effectiveness of the proposed current sharing method.
