Abstract :

With the continuous expansion of wireless power transfer (WPT) in the field of electric vehicles (EVs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs), there is a need for a wireless charger that can complete the charging of these two devices in a limited space. To fill the gap in this field, this paper proposes an integrated wireless transmitter (IWT) that is suitable for EV and AGV wireless charging under different frequencies, which can realize the radio energy transmission of two types of vehicles in one charging position. It can also tolerate different coupling structures in EV wireless charging, namely the unipolar (Q) and bipolar (DD) coils. The IWT is established by stacking the Q coil and the DD coil composed of two self-decoupled poles, combined with circuit configuration topologies. An experimental prototype is established to verify the interoperability performance. The proposed WPT system can achieve interoperability with EV wireless charging of Q or DD receiving coils at 85 kHz and AGV wireless charging at 200 kHz. © 2025 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Abstract :

Abstract :

In the wireless power transfer (WPT) system of electric vehicles (EV), the interoperability and misalignment of the coupling structure will lead to the reduction of charging efficiency. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a novel receiver (Rx). The proposed structure superimposes a unipolar (Q) coil with a cross-shaped solenoid, thereby forming three magnetic field directions in the vertical direction, which is used to achieve interoperability and misalignment tolerance characteristics with Q and bipolar (DD) coils. By combining the proposed structure with the topological structure, the corresponding equivalent mutual inductance is formed. Subsequently, the interoperability performance and misalignment tolerance of the proposed structure were verified by building the corresponding experimental prototype. The experimental results show that for the Q coil, the output voltage fluctuation is 18.14%, while for the DD coil, the output voltage fluctuation in the y-axis is 21.69%. © 2025 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Mechanism Analysis, Modeling and Suppression of Common-Mode Interference of Interleaved LLC Resonant Converter With Integrated Magnetics Scopus

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The interleaved parallel technique and magnetic integration technique can effectively improve power density of high-current LLC resonant converter. However, its common-mode (CM) noise mechanism and suppression are complicated due to the integration of multiple transformers (IMTs) sharing one common core in the interleaved multiplexing. The CM noise mechanism of the IMTs is analyzed, and the structural capacitance model and common-mode noise model of the IMTs are established. The model reveals that there exists electric field coupling between the any two windings through the common core of the IMTs. Then the CM noise propagation mechanism of interleaved LLC resonant converter with IMTs is investigated, and the simplified CM noise model of the IMTs is further developed. Based on the simplified model, the two suppression methods of the optimal balance capacitance, and the grounding both of shielding layer and transformer magnetic core are proposed. The experiments in a 3 kW high power density server power supply shows that the proposed suppression methods mitigate CM noise more effectively, and can reduce the CM inductor volume greatly, while loss improvement can be negligible. The experiments validates the IMTs noise mechanism, CM noise model, the simplified model, and the proposed suppression methods. The research will be beneficial to develop high power density and high current AI server power supply. © IEEE. 1982-2012 IEEE.

Integrated Dual-Decoupled Transmitter With Battery Voltage Interoperability for Wireless Charging of EVs SCIE

Abstract&Keyword Cite Version(1)

Abstract :

With the development of electric vehicles (EVs), lithium-ion batteries have two rated voltages: 400 and 800 V, and are suitable for different output power scenarios. Considering the interoperability of public wireless power transfer (WPT) facilities, the WPT system for EVs not only needs to be compatible with the battery voltage class (BVC) under the premise of meeting the corresponding output power level, but also needs to take into account different coupling structures, namely unipolar (Q) and bipolar (DD) coils. Under the background of the interoperability of the above-mentioned BVC and coupling structures, an integrated dual-decoupled transmitter is proposed. First, finite element analysis and optimization were carried out for the proposed coupling structure. While obtaining the optimal coil parameters, the interoperability performance with Q and DD coils was also achieved. Then, by combining circuit topology, four different output modes can be achieved, which are used to adapt to the BVCs under different power levels and different coupling structures. A downscaled experimental prototype with the power of 5.0-kW was established. Under the premise of 200 V input voltage, the efficient transmission of 200 and 400 V output of Q and DD coil was achieved. The dc-dc efficiency is greater than 91%. Finally, on the premise of meeting the interoperability of Q and DD coils, the proposed structure also has a certain degree of antimisalignment characteristics.

Abstract :

The power supply issue for electrical devices in harsh and dangerous environments is challenging. This letter proposes a power supply solution using drones as an energy carrier to charge such devices. The drone is wirelessly charged at the ground-side station and then flies to the target place to charge the devices wirelessly. To achieve a compact and lightweight structure, the helical coupler is designed without compensation components and ferrite on the drone side. Thus, a drone-side uncompensated bidirectional wireless charging system is formed. Compensation capacitors and inductors are employed on the ground side to achieve zero phase angle. The antioffset performance and the constant-voltage output characteristic of the system are investigated. The experimental results verified that the proposed approach can be a competitive solution for charging devices in inaccessible places.

Abstract :

In inductive power transfer (IPT) systems, maintaining a stable output when the coils are significantly misaligned remains a challenge. The design of detuned circuits is considered one of the effective solutions to address this issue. However, in previous studies, commonly used unipolar coils exhibit a rapid decrease in coupling coefficient when misalignment occurs, which limits the system's tolerance to misalignment. To overcome this limitation, this paper establishes a mathematical model of the bilateral detuned series-series (S-S) topology and theoretically analyzes the relationship between the detuning factor and output fluctuations. Based on this, a cascade coil composed of unipolar and quadrupole coils is used to meet the required specifications. This effectively reduces output fluctuations during misalignment. Experimental results indicate that when the $X$ and $Y$ directions are within 50% of the coil size, the system's output fluctuation is only 1.28%. © 2025 IEEE.

Abstract :

Improving power density and system integration is a pivotal focus for wireless power transfer (WPT) in portable devices. However, challenges, such as misalignment tolerance and power fluctuation persist. This letter introduces a robust solution utilizing secondary independent PWM control. A coil structure combining solenoids and reverse windings ensures passive misalignment tolerance, while a grooved magnetic core integrates the converter, optimizing compactness. In addition, the secondary PWM control achieves precise output voltage regulation without communication. A high-power-density WPT prototype validates the proposed coupler and control method, demonstrating less than 1% output voltage fluctuation under a 50% misalignment and maintaining over 89% efficiency at 100 W. The secondary device is highly compact, measuring only 60 mm x 30 mm x 7.5 mm and achieving power density of 7.41 W/cm(3).
