Abstract:
Winding loss is the key to the design of magnetic components. The traditional theoretical method for calculating the high-frequency eddy current loss of transformer foils is the Dowell model. With the increase of the operating frequency of the power converter, the influence of the two-dimensional (2-D) edge effect on the winding loss gradually increases, but the one-dimensional (1-D) model cannot predict this phenomenon. According to the model of multi-conductors in parallel to form a foil conductor, this paper proposes a foil winding high-frequency loss model that can accurately predict the 2-D edge effect. And the accuracy of the proposed model is verified by finite element method (FEM). © 2021 IEEE.
