Abstract:
The electrochemical behavior of 5-methoxy-l-indole-3-acetic acid (MIAA) has been studied by Osteryoung square wave voltammetry. In the NH 3-NH4C1 buffer solution (pH-9. 2) , an irreversible anodic oxidation peak of MIAA is obtained, and the peak potential is at +0.5 V(vs. Ag/AgCl). The peak current has a well linear relationship to the concentration of MIAA in the range of 4. O × l0-6-1.0 × 10-4 mol/L. The detection limit is 9. 8 × 10-7 mol/L,and the RSD is 3.5%. This method has been applied in the rapid detection of MIAA within 10min in urine samples with good recoveries (91%-99%). It was proved to be prospective in the evaluation of pineal gland function.
