Abstract:

In this paper, a kind of driving system that realized displaying video on FED panel is developed, and principles of low work function printable field emission display system including the transform and processing of digital video image and the transmission of the video data, interface circuit, gray-shade column driving, row driving technology, and FPGA control technology are described. In order to improve display effect of the printable FED, the brightness for non-uniformity correction method, gamma correction method and automatic power control method are proposed by theoretical analyzing and practical certificating. The quality of image processing used in driving circuit, image brightness uniformity and gray-scale reproduction is improved, besides, the sample power consume is reduced. At present, the technology has been used in the 25 inch colorful low-work-function printable FED sample in our lab, which can display colorful video and obtains the brightness about 400 cd/m2, contrast ratio 1000:1, 256 circuit gray scales. So far, the driving system has been applied to the 640×480 FED panel and reached good result.
