To　evaluate　the　situation　of　traffic　safety　level　of　road　network　comprehensively　and　systematically　based　on　the　analysis　of　research　profile　home　and　abroad,　the　function　of　TSLE　index　of　road　network　is　analyzed　theoretically,　and　different　safety　standards　are　compared　and　developed.　According　to　the　principle　of　index　choice,　a　comprehensive　assessment　of　road　network　safety　indicators　is　constructed.　Case　analysis　shows　that　this　index　can　be　used　to　provide　technical　support　and　decision-making　basis　for　the　evaluation　of　traffic　safety　level　of　road　network.　©　2011　ASCE.
