Abstract:

This paper introduces integrated control technology into the intelligent control for AC contactor. Buck-Boost circuit is transformed to design an intelligent control module for AC contactor. Pulse skip modulation (PSM) mode is applied in the module. With the smart power IC as the core of hardware circuit, it has the function of overload protection and short circuit protection. What's more, the control idea of closed-loop feedback switching from voltage loop to current loop is proposed. Therefore the AC contactor can start with voltage loop and keep with current loop automatically in one circle topology without microcontroller. It's a natural transition process without overvoltage. The module works without auxiliary power supply and microcontroller, compared with the conventional scheme. The module features small volume of hardware, low power consumption, less active components and high degree of integration. In addition, the simulation model of AC contactor with control is built. The control circuitry is designed in Multisim and the dynamic model of contactor based on magnetic circuit method is designed in LabVIEW. Connecting LabVIEW with Multisim it realizes co-simulation of dynamic model and control module of contactor. This paper analyzes the principle of control circuit and property of contactor, considering the inductance changing of circuitry. The experiments are performed to verify control module.
