The　previous　researches　of　local　compression　and　the　specifications　concerned　are　presented　briefly,　with　an　emphasis　on　the　bearing　strength　of　concrete-filled　steel　tube　(CFST)　columns　subjected　to　local　compression.　The　recent　work　of　the　author　is　given　and　some　discussions　on　the　study　are　proposed.
