Abstract:
Nano-scale rutile-type TiO2 was prepared using TiCl3 as the source and DBS as anionic surfactant after the product was dried. The phase structures, crystal sizes, microstructures and morphologies of the products were analyzed by XRD and TEM technique. The electron diffraction and crystal arrangement were analyzed. The role of anionic surfactant on the crystal nuclei and growth were discussed. It was shown that this derived TiO2 crystals exhibited super thermal stability upon heating afterwards. It was suggested that the polar TiO2 affected the absorption and distribution of the anionic surfactant. The product exhibited bundles of parallel branches. It was suggested that the form of the crystal and the preferred orientation distribution had something to do with the adding of surfactant.
