Abstract:
Aluminium titanate was synthesized from waste aluminum slag, which was a by-product of anodizing oxidation surface treating, and TiO2by solid state sintering method. The influence of V2O5additive on the purity and microstrcuture of aluminium titanate was examined. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the crystalline phases and microstructure of aluminium titanate. The results show that the purity of 90% is obtained for the aluminium titanate prepared using the aluminium slag, TiO2and V2O5of 1.0wt% as additive, and the bulk density of the aluminium titanate is up to the highest, 3.10g/cm3, porosity is 9.8% and bending strength is 28.15MPa.
