Abstract:
Tubular kaolinite as a support was obtained by the exfoliation and rolling of cetyltrimethylammonium chloride replacement reaction with kaolin/methanol intercalation compound. TiO2 doped tubular kaolinite catalysts were prepared by sol-gel method in aqueous solution of nitric acid. The structural and morphological of kaolinite and its intercalation compounds were investigated by XRD, FT-IR and FE-SEM. Compared with pure TiO2, composite catalyst has obvious enhancement in the utilization ratio of light absorption, especially in the visible range. The photocatalyst efficiency of TiO2 doped tubular kaolinite has increased by 30% on the degradation of methyl orange in aqueous solution, after irradiation for 30min under 500W mercury lamp.
