Abstract:

The Guanhe Bridge of the Yanhai Highway, Jiangsu Province as the background project, the actual running vehicle load model of the cable-stayed bridge was established based on the GPS (Global Positioning System) measured data. Firstly, the baseline finite element model of Guanhe Bridge was constructed based on the response surface model, and then the displacement influence lines of key sections in the bridge were calculated. Secondly, actual vehicle load displacement standard values were obtained by two ways, one generalized extreme value theory model (GEV) to weigh-in-motion (WIM) system data, and the other generalized Pareto distribution model (GPD) to GPS measurement. Finally, the ratio of actual standard displacement value to normative displacement value multiplies standard line load, which can be used as the actual vehicle load model of Guanhe Bridge. The results show that based on the GPS data, the actual vehicle load is about 70% of highway load I-grade. Based on the WIM system data, the actual vehicle load is about 71% of highway load I-grade. The results calculated from GPS and WIM data coincide with each other. The monitor of more than half a year shows that the actual running vehicle load of Guanhe Bridge does not exceed the design load. The proposed method using GPS data with advantages of direct usage, high efficiency, and simplicity can be put into construction of the running vehicle load model. But some attention should be paid to the selection and examination of the mathematical model. © 2016, Editorial Department of China Journal of Highway and Transport. All right reserved.
