Abstract:
This paper presents bending test results of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites retrofitted concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) beams after exposure to fire. Both circular and square specimens were tested to investigate the retrofitting effects of uni-directional CFRP composites on them. The test results showed that the strengthening effect for beams was not so good compared with their stub column counterparts. Therefore, it is recommended that, in retrofitting CFST beams, other appropriate strengthening measures should be taken to improve the performance of uni-directional CFRP composites or bi-directional CFRP composites should be applied.
