Automatic identification of AI-generated ceramic art images using convolutions-based neural networks models EI

Abstract :

Ceramic art, deeply rooted in cultural heritage, has long been regarded as a symbol of craftsmanship and historical significance, often commanding substantial prices in the art market. However, with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and its ability to generate art that closely resembles human creations, distinguishing between authentic and AI-generated artworks has become a critical challenge. In this research work, deep learning base models including the proposed convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and pre-trained models are applied to identify ceramic arts, distinguishing between human prepared artefacts and AI-generated content (AIGC). There is no benchmark data set available to distinguish between real ceramic and AI-generated, therefore, the dataset has been prepared having two classes: authentic ceramic items (real) and AI-generated. The results obtained the highest accuracy of 98% by using CNN compared to pre-trained models, such as ResNet, VGG and AlexNet models. This study may help to identify the authenticity of digital artefacts in the digital era. © 2025 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Abstract :

The focus of this article is on the effectiveness of using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) in intelligent process design systems. Traditional process design methods have some limitations in data processing, generalization ability, computational efficiency, and interpretability. Therefore, this article attempts to introduce a CNN algorithm model to improve the process of pattern recognition and feature extraction. This article also introduces the background and current research results of intelligent process design, and in the experimental section, demonstrates the significant improvements that CNN can bring in process design. Through three specific experiments, it has been confirmed that CNN has significant advantages in processing speed and accuracy compared to traditional methods. It evaluates the performance of CNN in intelligent process design systems based on three experiments. The accuracy evaluation experiment shows that as the training period increases, the accuracy of the model improves from the initial 50% to 100%, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the CNN model. In the efficiency comparison experiment, the CNN algorithm model only takes 2.5 seconds to process the same task, while the traditional method takes 5 seconds. This data conclusion demonstrates the high efficiency of the CNN model. In the final generalization ability experiment, the accuracy of the CNN model reached 80% on dataset A, while it slightly decreased to 65% on dataset B, indicating that the CNN model has good adaptability, but there is still room for improvement. The above experimental results demonstrate the high accuracy, excellent processing efficiency, and good generalization ability of CNN models in intelligent process design, providing strong evidence for their potential in practical process design applications. Future work can focus on further enhancing the generalization ability and interpretability of models to better adapt to complex process design requirements. © 2024 IEEE.

Abstract :

With the growth of high technology, the digitization of art and cultural relics is no longer a problem. At present, ceramic enterprises are gradually evolving from large-scale customization to personalized customization, and the demand for upgrading the intelligent manufacturing industry is increasing. A personalized ceramic pattern generation algorithm is on the verge of emergence. With the theoretical growth of neural networks and the improvement of hardware computing power, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) have achieved remarkable achievements in multiple fields. Image feature extraction technology and automatic generation technology have both received great attention from the academic community. Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) have promoted research applications in image generation and restoration, text generation, video prediction, and style transfer, demonstrating their enormous potential in image processing. This article designs an ML based algorithm for automated production of ceramic patterns. By using ML technology, useful features are automatically extracted from a large amount of ceramic pattern data, and these features are used to train the model, thereby generating new ceramic patterns. The experimental results show that the algorithm can be well applied to practical cases and effectively achieve automated production of ceramic patterns. © 2024 IEEE.

Abstract :

Ceramic product design is a method for creating the most functional, practical, and aesthetically pleasing product system out of ceramic materials. It is a conceptual, behavioral, and realization creative process. Design is a creative process, and designers' use of creative thinking is what gives them their power. Ceramic design, as a sort of design, cannot survive without creative thinking in the face of a continually changing market environment and market demands. The unique design of ceramic products is not only a critical component in its qualitative leap but also a requirement for ceramic products to achieve a competitive edge in sales. Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is now extensively employed in many industries, and designing ceramic products using AI technology as support is a new development route for the ceramic industry. This study explores the application of AI in the development of creative thinking in ceramic design, to provide theoretical support for related process optimization. Using AI, designers who play a key role in the development of ceramic product design can properly comprehend material characteristics, fully exploit technological boundaries, and recognize that technology can considerably encourage ceramic product design innovation.

With the development of high technology, the digitization of works of art and cultural relics is no longer a problem. How to extract enough and accurate information from a large number of complex information for our use is a common problem in practice. With the continuous improvement of digital inkjet technology and color ink quality, many digital products have appeared in the market, such as digital oil painting, digital traditional Chinese painting, digital calligraphy, digital printmaking, digital paper cutting, digital embroidery and other digital art replicas. However, in addition to modeling, pattern is also an important part of art. Chinese traditional patterns have a long history and brilliant achievements. After solving the problem of production automation, leading enterprises in various industries began to seek detection automation and assembly automation based on machine vision. Machine vision technology has become one of the hot spots in the industry. With the rapid development of 3D technology, its application scope is becoming more and more daily, from cultural relic restoration, simulation manufacturing, digital sculpture to ceramic art production, etc. Machine vision should use image recognition technology instead of human eyes to measure and judge, which is more efficient, more accurate and more objective, and can be repeated endlessly, greatly improving the degree of automation of production. This paper focuses on the three-dimensional patterns of ceramic artworks, aiming at high-quality reproduction and design re-creation, deeply studies the collection and image splicing technology of three-dimensional patterns of ceramic artworks, and constructs an image reproduction system, which realizes the whole digital process from three-dimensional pattern shooting, preprocessing, image correction, two-dimensional transformation of three-dimensional images, image registration, image fusion to generation of complete two-dimensional patterns. © 2022 SPIE.

陶瓷,作为中国的一种传统技艺,有着上千年的历史,代表的是中华文化的博大精深,古代有唐朝时期的唐三彩陶器和宋朝时期的哥、汝、官、定、钧,如今有广东石湾公仔和江西景德镇,陶瓷代表中国器皿艺术的发展.循规蹈矩已经不是当下陶瓷文化的风格,大同小异也不再是人们对当下陶瓷雕塑作品的印象.沧海桑田,斗转星移,历经了漫长岁月的洗礼和沉淀,传统陶瓷雕塑在新的历史时期,已经被传统文化赋予了新的内涵,同时也对中国的陶瓷雕塑文化具有一定的传承性.中国传统文化历史悠久,陶瓷雕塑作为传统文化的载体之一,在对传统文化的传承与创新方面有着重要意义[1].
