Abstract :
Epoxy resins are susceptible to condensation in high humidity environments, leading to flashover discharges that compromise their insulation properties. Hence, investigating the electrohydrodynamic behaviors of droplets on epoxy resin surfaces is crucial for understanding and mitigating such phenomena. By analyzing the droplet dynamics through experiments, this study thoroughly explores the spreading and migration characteristics of droplets under the influence of varying AC voltages. Simulation and numerical models are developed to depict droplet motion and force dynamics, integrating principles of hydrodynamics and electrodynamics. The findings reveal that droplets spread in the direction of the electric field, with the extent of spreading increasing with the increase in voltage. This spreading is influenced by various factors, including the droplet's position, volume, and surface tension. Primarily, the electric field at the droplet's base generates a tangential force that determines its spreading. Furthermore, the droplet tends to move toward the nearer electrode, especially when a tip structure emerges on its surface, facilitating more rapid deformation in that direction. (c) 2025 Author(s). Abstract :
The detection of wildfire in transmission line corridors under multiple background interference suffers from high false and missed detection rates, and the difficulty of detecting wildfire and smoke in small targets, etc. The YOLOv5s model has high real-time performance, but the accuracy of detecting wildfire in the actual power grid requires to be improved. Consequently, a flame and smoke detection method based on YOLOv5s-EBWS is proposed in this paper, after analyzing the multiple disturbances of wildfire pictures in transmission line corridors. Firstly, a dataset is constructed by collecting many live images of wildfire incidents along actual transmission lines. Secondly, the efficient multi-scale attention (EMA) mechanism and weighted bi-directional feature pyramid network (BiFPN) are introduced into the YOLOv5s model to efficiently extract and fully integrate multi-scale spatial information and important features of flame and smoke. Then, wise intersection over union (WIoU) loss function and soft non-maximum suppression (Soft NMS) method are introduced to avoid the missed detection of overlapping fire and smoke, ultimately to enhance the generalization of the model. Finally, example verification is carried out. The results show that the dataset in this paper improves the evaluation indexes of the model by 12%~15% compared with the public fire dataset. Compared with YOLOv5, the size of YOLOv5s-EBWS model is reduced by 0.4 MB, and the values of emAP@0.5, emAP@0.5:0.95 and F1 for fire and smoke are increased by 2.3%, 3.8%, 4.9%, and 5.5%, respectively. The proposed method provides a new way to detect wildfire occurred in transmission line corridors. © 2025 Science Press. All rights reserved.

Abstract :
Silicone rubber composite insulators running in coastal or mountainous areas are always in the harsh environment of high humidity and large temperature difference, and the problem of creeping discharge induced by condensation has brought great challenges to the operational reliability of composite insulators. In order to study the mechanism of condensation generation and development on the surface of silicone rubber, we firstly constructed a full-cycle numerical simulation model of wet air droplet condensation considering the role of non-condensable gases on the basis of the existing droplet condensation model, and adopted the neighboring droplet logic searching algorithm to improve the operation efficiency of the model. The validity of the model was then verified by a silicone rubber wet air condensation test. Finally, we discussed the influence law of environmental temperature and humidity, physical and chemical properties of condensation substrate on the development of condensation. Finally, we explored the law of influence of factors such as ambient temperature and humidity, and the physical and chemical properties of the condensed substrate on the development of condensation. The following conclusions can be drawn: The pre-condensation droplets grow mainly by direct condensation, while the later period is dominated by agglomeration growth, and the contribution of coalescence growth to the maximum droplet radius at the later stage of condensation is more than 70%; The condensation growth rate is positively correlated with relative humidity and temperature difference, and negatively correlated with material thickness and static contact angle. This study helps to reveal the mechanism of wet air droplet condensation, which can provide the corresponding theoretical basis and technical support for the improvement of anti-condensation performance of insulating materials and the prevention of condensation in electrical equipment. © 2025 Science Press. Abstract :
Donor doping can increase the dielectric constant of a material by several orders of magnitude due to induced space charge causing interfacial polarization. Giant dielectric properties and interface polarization are also both expected to greatly enhance the flexoelectric behavior of a material. In this work, a typical flexoelectric ceramic material, BaTiO3, was selected and donor doped using elemental Nb. Compared with the nominal BaTiO3 ceramic, the dielectric constant and flexoelectric coefficient of the Nb-doped BaTiO3 ceramics were significantly improved. The transverse flexoelectric coefficient of 0.3 mol. % Nb-BaTiO3 was found to increase to nearly 40 times the nominal value, reaching 387 mu C/m. The results indicate that the giant dielectric response, and therefore the giant flexoelectric response, is the result of the combined effects of internal barrier-layer capacitance and surface barrier-layer capacitance. This study not only deepens the understanding of the semiconductor macro-dielectric effect and the flexoelectric mechanism caused by doping, but it also provides a feasible strategy for the design of giant dielectric/flexoelectric response materials and related devices with high dielectric constants and flexoelectric coefficients.

Abstract :
Wildfires have become an important factor threatening the safe and stable operation of transmission lines, and large-scale wildfires can significantly reduce the air gap insulation level of transmission lines and cause line tripping. Therefore, based on the principle of cellular automata and Wang Zhengfei's model of wildfire spread, this paper analyzes in detail the effects of factors such as slope, wind speed, wind direction, and fuel type on the speed of wildfire spread and the area of the fire site, and predicts the time when the wildfire arrives below the transmission line. The results indicate that the established model can preliminarily reflect the spread law of wildfires, and has a certain guiding role for the safe and stable operation of the power grid. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Abstract :
Accurate evaluation for operating state of power transformer using big data and portrait technology is beneficial to ensure the safe and stable operation of power system. Aiming to the shortcomings of traditional condition evaluation methods, such as too single evaluation dimension and strong subjectivity, a construction method for transformer operating state portrait based on multi-dimensional capability and knowledge graph-multilayer perceptron (KG-MLP) is proposed. Firstly, the portrait system of transformer operation state is constructed, which is composed of insulation level, load capacity, anti-short circuit ability, energy efficiency level and voltage regulation capacity. Then, by combining the KG and MLP, a portrait analysis model of transformer operating state is built. Finally, according to the actual operation data of 1368 110kV transformers in a certain area, an example analysis of transformer operation state portrait is carried out. Also, the results are compared with those of Random Forest (RF) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) methods. The results show that the proposed method can accurately construct the transformer running state portrait with an accuracy of 96.35%, which is superior to RF algorithm (accuracy of 89%) and SVM algorithm (accuracy of 77%), providing a new way of evaluation for power transformer operating state. © 2024 Power System Technology Press. Abstract :
The thermal faults of GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) disconnect switch can lead to serious electrical accidents, and the temperature of the contacts is an important indicator for effectively detecting thermal faults. Therefore, conducting temperature field calculations for GIS is of great significance. In this paper, a multi-physics simulation calculation model is established for a 110 kV GIS disconnect switch. Firstly, electromagnetic simulation calculations are carried out to obtain the distribution of losses. Then, the calculated losses are coupled as heat sources to the temperature fluid field to obtain the temperature and flow field distribution. Based on this, temperature field analysis is further carried out for different contact resistance values in abnormal contact conditions. The results show that the temperature hotspots of the GIS disconnect switch are concentrated on the upper contacts of the disconnect switch. In the case of poor contact, the highest temperature point is 42.06% higher than that under normal working conditions. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co., Ltd 2024.

Abstract :
To realize passive vibration monitoring of power transformers, this study proposes a self-powered method for transformer vibration monitoring sensors based on the Sm-doped-Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3-PbTiO3 (PMN-PT) piezoelectric bimorph array. This study conducts the theoretical analysis and field measurement of the transformer vibration signals. In addition, the preparation method of a high-performance Sm-doped-PMN-PT piezoelectric bimorph is investigated. The properties of the xSm-PMN-yPT ceramics are also analyzed. Further, the output voltage and power characteristics of the piezoelectric bimorph arrays with different combinations are compared. Finally, the validation and application of the prototype are presented. The experimental results show that the 2.5%Sm-PMN-32PT has a high piezoelectric coefficient (d(33)) of 1710 pC/N. The results also indicate that the piezoelectric self-powered device with a parallel structure consisting of nine piezoelectric bimorphs has a maximum power generation of 2.341 mW under the measured transformer vibration excitation. Moreover, it is shown that it takes 75 min to complete the charging of the 7.5 V-1-F faradic capacitor from 4.4 to 5 V to satisfy the condition for the required energy of 2.82 J for the vibration signal acquisition, processing, and transmission, realizing the intermittent passive vibration monitoring of the transformer for 16 times per day. Therefore, the proposed method has a promising engineering application prospect.

Abstract :
The effectiveness of fireproof sealing systems in preventing the spread of fire in high-rise building cable shafts relies on the properties of various sealing materials and the construction process. Therefore, a comprehensive evaluation is necessary. The authors of this paper propose a comparative test method based on an entity test platform for a performance evaluation of cable shaft fireproof sealing systems in high-rise buildings. The test platform measures changes in temperature, humidity, and smoke mass during fire tests to compare the performance of four sets of fireproof sealing systems in terms of thermal insulation, smoke sealing capacity, and overall integrity. In addition, a fire dynamics simulation (FDS) of fireproof sealing systems was carried out on the entity test platform, and the sealing failure process in the case of cracking in the fireproof sealing system was revealed. The simulation results for the temperature trends in the lower space align with the fire test results. Furthermore, as the gap size increases, the diffusion of smoke and flame accelerates. Consequently, the performance of cable shaft fireproof sealing systems depends not only on the sealing material but also on the construction process.
