Abstract :

Stainless steel exhibits several advantages as structural material, however its applications are limited due to the high cost. A novel stainless steel, S35657, which replaced the valuable nickel element with cheap nitrogen, was designed to make its use more economical. This study aims to clarify the potential structural application of the novel stainless steel. Tensile tests were firstly conducted to investigate the effect of steel rolling direction, cold- forming enhancement and welding on the behaviour of grade S35657, with comparisons made to commonly used stainless steel S30408 and mild steel Q355. The test results revealed that S35657 grade exhibited higher strength compared to stainless steel S30408, attributed to the added nitrogen element. The post-fire behaviour of S35657 up to 1200 degrees C under unloaded conditions was tested, alongside its post-cold-forming behaviour. This thermomechanical property characterisation indicated no significant strength deterioration until the exposed temperature exceeded 800 degrees C, although the benefits of cold-forming diminished above 500 degrees C. Based on the test results, the existing stress-strain model was modified to accurately represent the pre- and post-fire stress-strain response for grade S35657. Finally, 1269 test data of S35657 stainless steel were collected and statistically analysed. The partial resistance factor of grade S35657 was determined as 1.15 when the standard value of nominal yield strength was selected as 381.9 MPa.

Abstract :

Owing to their exceptional durability, reinforced sea-sand concrete-filled (square) stainless steel tubular (RSCFSST) columns present a viable structural solution for coastal regions. Axial compressive tests were conducted on eight square RSCFSST short columns and two sea-sand concrete-filled (square) stainless steel tubular counterparts. The experimental results demonstrated that the incorporation of stainless steel rebars increased their axial compressive resistance, peak strain, and ductility by 4-13 %, 21-52 %, and 25-122 %, respectively. Notably, RSCFSST column filled with sea-sand concrete exhibited comparable axial compressive behavior to those columns utilizing normal concrete. A finite element model was developed to conduct the mechanism and parametric analyses. The mechanism analysis revealed that stainless steel outperformed carbon steel in improving both the peak strain and ductility of the composite columns. Parametric analysis indicated that increasing the concrete strength, 0.2 % proof strength of the steel tube, 0.2 % proof strength of stirrups, steel tubular ratio, or stirrup ratio significantly enhanced the axial compressive resistance of the RSCFSST columns. Finally, novel predictive methods were developed for estimating their axial compressive resistances and peak strains, demonstrating superior accuracy in predictions.

Abstract :

To meet the critical construction challenges in mountainous and offshore areas, a novel concrete-filled sleeveconnected stainless steel tubular column (sleeve-connected CFSST) is developed by manufacturing the stainless steel tubes in controlled length for convenient transport and assembling on-site with sleeve connection. The spliced steel tubes can further act as formwork to fill on-site mixing concrete for efficient composite action. In this study, the failure modes, load-carrying capacity and ductility of sleeve-connected CFSST columns under axial compressive loading are experimentally investigated with different spliced types. The test results indicates that the outer sleeve can provide additional confinement, leading to strength and ductility enhancement in sleeveconnected CFSSTs. Then finite element (FE) model is validated by the test data, the load-transfer mechanism and confinement effect in typical spliced CFSST columns are systematically analysed by the verified FE model, demonstrating that the existence of core concrete has positive effect on spliced steel tube in transferring axial load and providing additional confinement. Furthermore, the existing design codes give conservative predictions in load-carrying capacity of sleeve-connected CFSSTs. Based on parameter analysis, current predicted methods in cooperation with suggested influenced factor is proposed for compression capacity prediction. Meanwhile, several design recommendations are also delivered within a limited scope.

S35657不锈钢管混凝土柱压弯性能研究

Abstract :

奥氏体不锈钢S35657因高强度与低合金成本的特点而更适合用作结构钢,但其应用于钢管混凝土柱的研究有待深入.为了研究S35657不锈钢管混凝土柱压弯性能,以截面类型(圆形、方形)、长细比(22、26、43、50)及偏心距(0、40、60 mm)为主要参数,完成16根钢管混凝土柱压弯试验.结果表明:S35657不锈钢管混凝土柱的破坏模态与传统Q355碳钢柱类似,但压弯承载力较碳钢管混凝土柱提高约12%,且压弯承载力均随偏心距与长细比的增加而降低;目前既有规范(规程)对该类柱压弯承载力预测结果偏于保守.建立有限元分析模型并基于试验结果验证其适用性,继而通过验证的模型展开参数分析考察混凝土强度、含钢率和长细比对S35657不锈钢管混凝土柱承载力的影响,分析结果表明:构件稳定系数随着长细比与含钢率的增大而减小,混凝土强度对其影响不大;长细比、含钢率以及混凝土强度对相对轴力-相对弯矩相关曲线影响较大.基于参数分析结果,修正了T/CECS 952-2021《不锈钢管混凝土结构技术规程》中所推荐压弯承载力的计算方法,修正后的简化计算方法对压弯承载力的预测精度提高了约25%.

Abstract :

This paper proposes a novel stainless -steel tube locally strengthened by a concrete -filled steel tube to resist impact loads. A drop hammer impact test system was used to determine the failure modes, impact forces, and displacement responses of the strengthened tubes under an impact load. The effects of the strengthening length and thickness of the concrete and outer steel tubes on the impact responses of the strengthened tubes were investigated. The impact resistance was found to improve with an increase in the thickness of the concrete and outer steel thickness. The test results also indicated that the strengthened tubes exhibited a flexural failure mode with a combination of local and global deformations. An analytical model for predicting the dynamic responses of the locally strengthened tubes was established based on an equivalent two -degree -of -freedom (TDOF) model. The analytically predicted results were compared with the experimental results, and the good consistency between these two results demonstrated the accuracy of the established analytical model.

本实用新型涉及一种基于折纸原理的不锈钢管混凝土受压构件,包括同轴设置的内折叠钢管和外折叠钢管,内折叠钢管和外折叠钢管均由不锈钢板采用Kresling折叠法折叠而成,内折叠钢管和外折叠钢管之间灌装混凝土;内折叠钢管和外折叠钢管的折叠旋转方向相反;内折叠钢管的上、下边缘均通过内卡扣扣紧;外折叠钢管上、下边缘均通过外卡扣扣紧;位置相对应的内卡扣与外卡扣之间通过连杆相连接。通过Kresling折叠法制作成折叠钢管,极大地节省运输空间、提高运输效率和降低运输成本,也避免运输过程中难以避免的碰撞导致钢管发生局部屈曲的风险,提高现场施工的效率;充分利用不锈钢的抗腐蚀性强,使其在山区和海岛离岸地区可以充分发挥其抗腐蚀性强的优点。

Abstract :

This paper made efforts on investigating low-temperature mechanical properties of new constructional stainless steel (SS) QN1906Mo. Forty-two tensile coupons were firstly tensioned at four low temperatures of 30,-30,-60, and-80 C. Environment for testing low temperatures was realized through an insulation chamber with injecting LNG. The test results reported low-temperature mechanical properties of SS QN1906Mo materials and welds. Test results showed that decreasing the temperature from 30 to-80 C did not affect the ductility and elastic Young's modulus of SS QN1906Mo material, but significantly increased yield and ultimate strengths of SS QN1906Mo material by 37% and 35%. Decreasing the temperature from 30 to-80 C also exhibited equivalent increments in yield or ultimate for weld coupons to those material coupons but with much larger scatters due to the air voids in the weld coupons. Finally, this paper developed constitutive models to describe stress-strain laws of SS QN1906Mo at varying T range of-80 & SIM;30 C, which were proved their capabilities.
