Development of red phosphor Li8CaLa2Ta2O13:Eu3+ for WLEDs and anti-counterfeiting applications Scopus

Abstract :

A set of novel red phosphors Li8CaLa2Ta2O13:xEu3+ (LCLTO:xEu3+) were successfully prepared using a solid-state reaction method. The properties of the prepared samples, including phase purity, elemental composition, and morphology, were systematically investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy analyses. The 610 nm maximum emission peak is attributed to the 5D0→7F2 transition of Eu3+ ion under 394 nm irradiation. Among all the LCLTO:xEu3+ phosphors, LCLTO:0.6Eu3+ showed the strongest emission intensity because of the concentration quenching effect of the electric dipole–dipole interaction among the Eu3+ ions, which was also demonstrated by the decay curves. Remarkably, the emission intensity of the optimal LCLTO:0.6Eu3+ phosphor, which exhibited a high internal quantum efficiency of 49.30% and excellent color purity of 96.79%, was approximately 2.29 times higher than that of commercial Y2O3:Eu3+ red phosphors. The thermal stability of the LCLTO:0.6Eu3+ sample with good color stability was meticulously investigated. The fabricated white-light-emitting diode (WLED) exhibited a superior color-rendering index of Ra = 82 and chromaticity coordinates of (0.3260, 0.3639), suggesting that LCLTO:0.6Eu3+ has potential applicability in developing efficient and high-quality WLEDs. Moreover, the prepared LCLTO:0.6Eu3+/PDMS composite film demonstrated exceptional flexural resistance and chemical stability, indicating considerable promise for practical anti-counterfeiting applications. © 2023

Abstract :

Abstract :

A series of Bi3+/Eu3+ co-doped Ca2Ta2O7 (CTO:Bi3+/Eu3+) phosphors were prepared by high-temperature solid-state method for dual-emission center optical thermometers and white light-emitting diode (WLED) device. By modulating the doping ratio of Bi3+/Eu3+ and utilizing the energy transfer from Bi3+ to Eu3+, the tunable color emission ranging from green to reddish-orange was realized. The designed CTO:0.04Bi(3+)/Eu3+ optical thermometers exhibit significant thermochromism, superior stability, and repeatability, with maximum sensitivities of S-a = 0.055 K-1 (at 510 K) and S-r = 1.298% K-1 (at 480 K) within the temperature range of 300-510 K, owing to the different thermal quenching behaviors between Bi3+ and Eu3+ ions. These features indicate the potential application prospects of the prepared samples in visualized thermometer or high-temperature safety marking. Furthermore, leveraging the excellent zero-thermal-quenching performance, outstanding acid/alkali resistance, and color stability of CTO:0.04Bi(3+)/0.16Eu(3+) phosphor, a WLED device with a high Ra value of 95.3 has been realized through its combination with commercially available blue and green phosphors, thereby demonstrating the potential application of CTO:0.04Bi(3+)/0.16Eu(3+) in near-UV pumped WLED devices.

Abstract :

To achieve high concentration of Ce3+ ions in Gd3Fe5O12 (GIG) crystal, the structure of codoped Sc3+ and Ce3+ ions was designed and the doping energy was evaluated by the firstprinciples density functional theory. Based on this, Ce,Sc,Ca:GIG crystals with centimeter size and good quality were successfully grown by an improved edge-defined film-fed growth method. The transmission, magnetism, and magneto-optical effects were investigated in detailed. The Ce-doped concentration as high as 18 at% results in the (Ce0.54Gd2.41Ca0.05) (Sc0.45Fe4.55)O12 crystal having excellent magneto-optical properties. Its Faraday rotation angle increased to about -1534 deg. cm-1 at l = 1550 nm. Therefore, the excellent magneto-optical performances reveal that Ce,Sc,Ca:Gd3Fe5O12 crystal has great potential to be utilized for miniaturized and high performance optical isolators in 1550 nm.(c) 2022 The Author(s). Abstract :

A series of novel Li2Y4(MoO4)(7): Ln(3+) (Ln = Dy, Eu) phosphors with color-tunable were prepared through solid-state reaction. The crystal structures, photoluminescence properties, energy transfer process, decay, and chromaticity coordinates were also investigated. The emission color of Li2Y4(MoO4)(7): Ln(3+) (Ln = Dy, Eu) phosphors were tunable from pale yellow to the nearly white position by adjusting the concentrations of Dy3+ and Eu3+ ions or converting the excitation wavelength from 353 nm to 391 nm, and eta ( tau ) could reach 49.33% when y = 0.60. These results indicated that Li2Y4(MoO4)(7): Ln(3+) (Ln = Dy, Eu) may be served as color tunable phosphors.

Abstract :

CaDyAlO4 (CDA) crystals with dimensions of Phi 25 x 28 mm3 were grown by the Czochralski method. The presence of a small amount of oxygen in the growth atmosphere will cause the coloration of CDA crystal, and correspondingly reduce the transmittance in the range of 400-730 nm. Rietveld structural refinement of XRD patterns revealed a slight difference in the unit cell parameters of the brown and yellow-green CDA crystals. The angular and temperature dependencies of the magnetic susceptibility were measured, indicating that CDA crystal has remarkable magnetic anisotropy and abnormal magnetic behavior in the a and c direction below 150 K. Faraday rotation characteristics of CDA crystal were investigated at room temperature. Verdet constant of CDA at 500-700 nm band is about 1.1 times as large as that of TGG, but only 0.69 fold of that for isostructural CaTbAlO4 (CTA). Based on the Van Vleck-Hebb theory, the effective transition wavelength and probability of three crystals were calculated and compared. The absorption and magnetic circular dichroism spectra (MCD) of 4f-4f transitions in Dy3+ ions in CDA were studied.

本文采用周期性密度泛函理论研究三水铝石(001)面吸附水合铀酰离子过程中的能量和结构的变化以及质子化对吸附的影响.对三水铝石(001)表面的吸附位置进行不同程度的去质子化,得到x=0、x=1和x=2吸附面(x表示三水铝石(001)表面吸附位置上去质子化的个数).x=0吸附面上各吸附位的吸附能最大差值在40 KJ·mol-1左右,Edge-sharing吸附总体比Comer-sharing吸附的更稳定,并且以双齿配位吸附为主.在x=1吸附面的吸附位上,也显现出大部分的Edge-sharing吸附比Comer-sharing吸附得更稳定.该面以单齿配位吸附为主.在x=2吸附面上,各个吸附位均表现出良好的吸附能力.该面以双齿配位吸附为主,但形成铀氧化物吸附的可能性增大.三水铝石(001)表面与铀酰离子通过配位键的作用形成稳定吸附.发生吸附配位后吸附面的电荷分布发生变化.吸附底物Al(OH)6八面体上氧原子离子化程度增大即带更多的负电荷.吸附通过减弱三水铝石表面H—O和Al—O共价键强度,增强其表面氧与水合铀酰的配位键强度,来形成稳定吸附结构.随着去质子化程度的增加,各个吸附位均表现出良好的吸附能力,吸附能变大.
