Effect of Mg Content on the Hot Tearing Susceptibility of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu Alloys SCIE

Abstract :

Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys are highly valued in the aerospace and automotive industries due to their exceptional specific strength and stiffness. However, their severe susceptibility to hot tearing during solidification inevitably limits their application in near-net shape processes. This study investigates the influence of the Mg content on the hot tearing susceptibility (HTS) of Al-6Zn-xMg-1.5Cu (x = 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 wt%) alloys using a constrained rod casting (CRC) mold. The results indicate a progressive decrease in the HTS with increasing Mg content. A comparison of the experimental results with the predictions of Kou's criterion reveals that Kou's criterion provides a considerable degree of reliability, although it slightly overestimates the decreasing trend of the HTS for alloys with higher Mg contents. Further analysis indicates that alloys with higher Mg contents exhibit superior hot tearing resistance due to five key factors: narrower vulnerable temperature range; finer grain size; higher liquid fraction and lower liquid viscosity at a given temperature during the middle stage of solidification; higher final residual Mg(Zn,Cu,Al)(2) phase fraction and lower liquid surface tension during the final stage of solidification; and lower solidification stress/strain. These findings enhance the understanding of the HTS of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys and are expected to offer reliable theoretical guidance for optimizing the composition of industrial Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys.

分层电磁搅拌工艺对TiB2颗粒团聚的影响及分散机理

Abstract :

针对TiB2颗粒增强铝基复合材料中颗粒易大面积团聚问题,采用自主设计的分层电磁搅拌设备制备 TiB2/A356 铝基复合材料,结合OM、SEM、EDS等测试手段,研究了分层电磁搅拌工艺(初始搅拌温度、搅拌时间)对TiB2/A356 组织的影响.结果表明,当初始搅拌温度为640℃,搅拌时间为30 s时,分层电磁搅拌工艺对TiB2颗粒团聚体分散效果最佳,其团聚体尺寸为5~10 μm;分层电磁搅拌工艺可以加强熔体间的对流,细化α-Al相,破碎TiB2颗粒团聚体,改善TiB2颗粒的团聚现象.

Morphology and properties of PC/ABS notebook computer shell prepared by a combined in-mold decoration and microcellular injection molding process SCIE

Abstract :

In this paper, the PC/ABS notebook computer shells with PET film were prepared using a combined in-mold decoration and microcellular injection molding (IMD/MIM) process. Then the surface quality, morphology, impact toughness and wear resistance were investigated. The results shown that the surface quality is improved by IMD/MIM technology. The three dimensional surface roughness value (Sa) was about 1/3 of that of MIM parts. The cross-section of IMD/MIM samples have three layers. The first layer is a PET film decoration layer with about 132 mu m thickness, followed by skin layer (about 22 mu m) and foam layer. The range of thickness of the foam layer for the different specimens is about 7803 mu m-7820 mu m.The cell diameter is between 0.532 mu m and 0.638 mu m, which is about 2 times than that of MIM parts. Compared with MIM parts, the shape of the bubbles of IMD/MIM parts is ellipsoid with thinner wall. Moreover, the impact toughness of IMD/MIM parts are higher. The best impact toughness is 21.02 KJ/m2 within the scope of this experiment, which is 74% higher than the corresponding MIM part under the same foaming process. This may due to the PET film and micropores could block the initiation of the tip crack. Meanwhile, the IMD/MIM parts have excellent wear resistance property. In most cases, the wear rate of IMD/MIM parts is about 36.6% of MIM part under the same condition.

Abstract :

A hypereutectic Al-Si alloy was prepared by a custom-made multilayer electromagnetic stirring process. The effects of different process parameters on the microstructures and properties of wear-resistant aluminum-based materials were studied through optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction mechanical tests. The results showed that the optimum composition of the alloy is Al17Si4Cu1.5Mg1.5Ni according to JMatPro calculations. For primary Si, its average particle size (28 mu m) was the smallest, its shape factor (0.64) was the largest, and its roundness was the highest when using multilayer reverse stirring. The tensile strength, elongation and microhardness values reached 308 MPa, 1.93% and 152 HV, respectively, under the optimal process. Multilayer electromagnetic stirring strengthened the relative melt motion between different layers, caused melt turbulence and particle collision, promoted uniform solute and temperature distributions, strengthened heat transfer, improved the nucleation rate and refined primary Si.

Abstract :

采用JMatPro软件计算不同成分合金的强度,对Al-13Si-Cu-Mg-Ni合金成分进行优化设计,得到Al-13Si-3.5Cu-1.3Mg-3Ni合金成分.利用Pandat相图计算软件,得到Al-13Si-3.5Cu-1.3Mg-3Ni合金的平衡相图,并配合OM、SEM、EDS、XRD等主要测试手段,研究了不同热处理工艺对过共晶铝硅合金组织和性能的影响.结果表明,Al-13Si-3.5Cu-1.3Mg-3Ni合金的最佳热处理工艺为固溶500℃+4 h,时效185℃+8 h.此时,合金的抗拉强度为330 MPa,伸长率为5.34%.

一种可实现多层搅拌的半固态浆料制备装置,包括坩埚、壳体、定子,所述坩埚设置与壳体内,所述坩埚周侧与壳体内周侧之间由内至外依次设置有电加热层、隔热层,所述隔热层上由上至下间隔安装至少两层定子,所述定子上绕制有感应线圈,感应线圈两端经引出导线连接外界的三相电流供电装置,本装置能够制备出优质的半固态浆料,所制备的半固态浆料不会氧化卷气,通过对熔体施加搅拌处理引起液相的强制流动,加快熔体内部热量的散失速率,使凝固系统的温度场,溶质场、流场变得均匀。

本实用新型涉及一种高低温熔体混合装置,包括第一机械手、第二机械手、熔炉,设于熔炉前侧的第一电磁搅拌器和第二电磁搅拌器,第二电磁搅拌器的内部设有冷却机构;第一机械手的移动端安装有用于从熔炉取料并将熔体移动至第一电磁搅拌器的第一汤勺;第二机械手的移动端安装有用于从熔炉取料的第二汤勺,第二机械手驱动第二汤勺先移动至第二电磁搅拌器,再将第二汤勺内的浆料倒入第一汤勺内。采用同一熔炉中取料,在电磁搅拌的过程中实现其温度的高低不同,避免了从两个熔炉取料的繁琐操作以及可能出现的浆料组织不同带来的缺陷;同时该工艺流程完全契合压铸岛工艺流程,制浆过程实施此熔体混合工艺,不必改变后续压铸工艺流程,实用性高。

本发明涉及一种多层电磁场搅拌下铝基复合材料的制备方法,将发泡剂与增强颗粒混合均匀,借助发泡剂与铝液反应产生气泡或内爆,增加铝液翻滚而促进基体与增强颗粒润湿及分布均匀;将另外制备的金属棒加入高温铝液中作为孕育剂,同时吹入气体进行降温,以实现高温金属熔体的快速降温;当温度降至基体处于半固态温度区间时施加多层电磁搅拌,磁场产生的旋转搅拌力提供的剪切力使基体与颗粒之间产生强烈搅拌效果,相邻层间的搅拌磁场形成不同方向的旋转搅拌效果,使不同层间产生熔体混合,形成增强相的对撞,且在多层异向磁场不同层之间的流体运动状态不同产生紊流,提高金属熔体中的增强颗粒分散性。该方法有利于提高铝熔体中增强颗粒的分散性。

通过OM、SEM、EDS测试手段,探究内冷法工艺参数对Al20Si3Cu1.6Mg1.4Ni合金组织及性能的影响.结果表明:710℃-1400 r/min-10%工艺参数下制备的半固态Al20Si3Cu1.6Mg1.4Ni合金,初生Si平均晶粒尺寸最小,力学性能最好.与液态浇注的合金相比,初生Si平均晶粒尺寸从62.8μm减小到24μm,布氏硬度从HB106提升到HB131,抗拉强度从243 MPa提升到278 MPa,伸长率由1.93%提升到3.03%.
