Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

Construction accounts for 39% and 36% of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption due to its high energy and material demands and waste creation. Thus, the building industry must actively seek solutions to reach "carbon peak"and "carbon neutrality."Pre-manufactured construction may reduce construction waste emissions by 65% and is being promoted worldwide due to environmental concerns. In rural locations, where resource use, environmental burdens, and management are worse than in cities, these buildings are underutilized. Timber, a low-carbon building material, has great prefabricated construction potential. Prefabricated structures' environmental benefits depend on timber provenance. A case study of the industrial park in Yongtai County, Fuzhou City, investigates traditional village development. The study examines prefabricated structures' carbon emissions and economic benefits during materialization in three stages. Firstly, BIM is used to create a reliable carbon emission prediction model. This model compares the carbon emissions from conventional cast-in-place and prefabricated construction materialization. Secondly, prefabricated wood and steel-wood building energy efficiency are compared. This study compares domestic and foreign lumber for building energy conservation and emission reduction. Thirdly, rural revitalization examines low-carbon advancement's economic, environmental, and social impacts. This study examines the homogeneity of prefabricated steel and wood and its capacity to satisfy carbon neutrality goals using a multidisciplinary approach to estimate carbon emissions during materialization. The research also examines the potential of locally sourced timber to reduce building carbon emissions compared to imported timber, which could redefine prefabricated public buildings in rural ecological environments and promote "carbon neutrality"in this context. © 2024 AIP Publishing LLC.

Abstract :

At present, most of the existing studies on traditional residence are focused on conservation and reuse, discussion on their environmental adaptability, and the design wisdom of traditional villages in terms of disaster prevention and mitigation and environmental adaptability has not been fully explored. Traditional villages along the coast of Fujian are divided into two categories: one is the traditional villages that were coastal defence guards in the Ming dynasty and Qing dynasty; the other is the traditional villages that have been transformed defence functions. The new villages designed after the 1980s are different in terms of street layout and architectural forms, with stronger wind in the village. A comparative study of old and new villages can help us understand the wisdom of traditional villages and preserve and utilize them better. This paper thus takes Qinjiang Village in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province as a case to quantitatively summarizes the relationship between street layout and spatial morphological characteristics of historical villages and their adaptability to wind environment, by comparing the spatial integration of the village and its adaptation to the sea wind environment are analysed by CFD software simulation with Depthmap of Space Syntax. concludes that crossroads have better wind protection than T junctions for street layout under the same wind effect; the street height to width ratio is inversely proportional to the average wind speed; the activity plazas properly interspersed between streets are conducive to optimising the wind environment. © 2024 Author(s).

Abstract :

The design of Hands-on Inquiry Based Learning (HIBL) Camps has a significant impact on the experience for students who study and live there. As the world strives to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, Eco-learning camps with a theme of environmental protection have appeared overseas, but few have been built in China. This paper explores how to design such camps according to Eco- learning camp design strategies, such as the replacement of building materials, to make the camp itself the largest teaching aid by design, which allows students to experience and master a more low-carbon and environmentally friendly lifestyle while reducing carbon emissions through design methods. By analyzing the ancient Dragon Kiln Camp in Huangshi Village, Changle City, Fujian Province, and comparing relevant cases, the paper summarizes three main design strategies and techniques for Eco-learning camp design, including coordinating environment and nature, introducing parametric models and choosing efficient materials. Among which the replacement of concrete with timber in the design process, can reduce approximately 45% of carbon emissions. The paper provides a theoretical basis and practical methods for the green building design innovation and sustainable development education. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Abstract :

At present, most of the existing research on traditional dwellings focuses on their preservation and reuse, while their environmental adaptability is relatively underexplored. Especially in coastal areas, understanding and enhancing the environmental adaptability of buildings is crucial to guarding against natural disasters, protecting the ecological environment, maintaining socio-economic stability, and coping with climate change, all of which are key factors in achieving sustainable development. In this paper, two traditional villages in Fuzhou (Dinghai Village and Houguan Village), which have similar geographic environments but different types, are selected as examples to explore the adaptability of village street layouts and spatial patterns with different degrees of integration to coastal wind environments by analyzing and comparing them through CFD simulations. The study summarizes the conclusions through the horizontal comparative analysis: 1. the degree of spatial integration of the central street and the wind resistance of the village are positively proportional 2. the layout with high connectivity value and strong permeability of the space is conducive to the improvement of the village's wind environment adaptability. By comparing different village patterns, the article refines the spatial characteristics of streets and alleys for the wind adaptability of coastal traditional villages, with a view to providing certain technical support and theoretical basis for the protection and renewal of traditional villages in China, as well as for the strategic planning in terms of sustainable development. © 2024 EDP Sciences. Comparative analysis on the carbon emissions of traditional wooden fishing raft and HDPE fishing raft Scopus
其他 | 2024 , 528
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

In the age of "global boiling", to settle the problem of climate change, the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals has been proposed by China to control carbon emissions. Fishing raft is a kind of platform used by fishermen for aquaculture. Presently, numerous studies on carbon emission concentrate on buildings on land. Few studies focus on fishing rafts' carbon emissions, which is significative to be analyzed. Therefore, this study calculates the carbon emissions of the main parts of two kinds of fishing rafts during the production and transportation stage of building materials to compare the difference in carbon emissions between the two. The results show that at the stage of building materials production and transportation, the carbon emissions of the main part of the wooden fishing raft mainly comes from the production of EPS floats. Additionally, the carbon emissions of HDPE fishing raft is significantly higher than that of the wooden one. Based on these results, this study proposes that the monitoring of the illegal production of EPS floats should be strengthened, and that the plastic with lower carbon emissions should be selected as the construction material of fishing rafts. © 2024 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.

Abstract :

This study is a case study on evaluating locations of 46 community and in-home care centers (CHCC) in four central districts in Fuzhou, China. The goals are to evaluate the location suitability of the current centers, eliminate the unsuitable locations and recommend suitable alternatives. In particular, this study tried to explore the feasible approaches for urban planners to enhance the process of planning and implementation participated by multiple stakeholders, with less decisions made by the care providers and the government departments. The suitability analysis of the current CHCC locations was implemented in two steps. First, the inappropriately sited centers were identified by the multiple indexes of legality, vulnerability and convenience through a Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchic Process analysis and were emulated and visualized by GIS. Second, the ill-located centers recommended more suitable plots identified by p-center or coverage location models according to the type of these centers. As a result, five centers are perfectly located, while 19 centers need to be relocated, as they were located on sites that were either inconsistent with the appropriate land use or in the risks of natural hazards. The rest half (22 centers) need improvements to different degrees to meet all the relevant planning requirements.

Uniaxial tensile test integrated design considering mould-fixture for UHPC Scopus

Abstract :

Tensile property is one of the excellent properties of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC), and uniaxial tensile test is an important and challenging mechanical performance test of UHPC. Traditional uniaxial tensile tests of concrete materials have inherent defects such as initial eccentricity, which often lead to cracks and failure in non-test zone, and affect the testing accuracy of tensile properties of materials. In this paper, an original integrated design scheme of mould and end fixture is proposed, which achieves seamless matching between the tension end of specimen and the test fixture, and minimizes the cumulative eccentricity caused by the difference in the matching between the tension end of specimen and the local stress concentration at the end. The stress analysis and optimization design are carried out by finite element method. The curve transition in the end of specimen is preferred compared to straight line transition. The rationality of the new integrated design is verified by uniaxial tensile test of strain hardening UHPC, in which the whole stress-strain curve was measured, including the elastic behavior before cracking, strain hardening behavior after cracking and strain softening behavior. © 2022 Techno-Press, Ltd.
