Abstract :
The carbon emissions trading system (CETS) is a crucial market-based tool aimed at achieving the goals of "carbon peaking" and "carbon neutrality", and plays a pivotal role in promoting the green development of the logistics industry. The green total factor productivity (GTFP) of the logistics industry is a key indicator used to measure the green development level of the logistics industry. The research on the CETS and the GTFP in the logistics industry(LGTFP) is currently lacking. Accurately assessing the impact of CETS on LGFP is crucial for improving the construction of the CETS and promoting the green transformation of the logistics industry. Utilizing a combined approach of system dynamics and econometrics, this study examines the effects of CETS on the LGFTP. In this study, the impact mechanism of CETS on the LGTFP is analyzed by constructing a causal relationship diagram using system dynamics theory. And then, we construct a multi-period differencein-difference (DID) model using panel data from 30 Chinese provinces spanning from 2010 to 2020 to verify the impact of CETS on LGTFP. The findings reveal that: (1) CETS significantly promotes LGTFP, and this conclusion is consistent even after conducting robustness tests. (2) Green technological innovation is identified as the primary influencing mechanism of CETS in enhancing LGTFP, while industrial upgrading does not play a positive mediating role, contrary to established studies. (3) Heterogeneity analysis reveals that CETS has a significant promotion effect on LGTFP in central and western regions, and resource-based provinces, but not yet in eastern regions and non-resource-based provinces. Based on the empirical analysis, we propose relevant policy recommendations to improve China's CETS and promote the improvement of LGTFP.

Abstract :
Expanding a high level of openness and attracting high-quality foreign direct investment (FDI) while preventing foreign-invested enterprises from relocating to host countries to reduce costs and circumvent environmental regulation (ER) in their home countries, which can transform host countries into "pollution heaven", present a significant challenge for emerging markets such as China. Based on a theoretical analysis that integrates various frameworks, this study constructs a panel regression model to empirically investigate the relationship between ER and the quality of FDI. This analysis is conducted from the perspectives of administrative means and market mechanisms, utilizing panel data from 267 prefectural-level cities in China spanning the years 2005 to 2021. This study reveals the following conclusions: (1) The implementation of ER significantly enhances the quality of FDI within cities, a conclusion that remains robust across various tests. (2) ER improves the quality of FDI through two key pathways: enhancing green competitiveness and fostering green technological innovation. (3) In comparison to the isolated effects of administrative and market mechanism policies, the synergistic effect of these two approaches proves to be more pronounced in elevating the quality of FDI. (4) ER exerts a significant impact on the quality of FDI, particularly within sub-samples of cities characterized by higher levels of environmental protection and a focus on non-resource-oriented activities. (5) ER has a negative spatial spillover effect on FDI quality. This study serves as a valuable guide for emerging markets to enhance environmental policy effectiveness and assess the potential for a new open economic system.

Abstract :
As a crucial event in the process of China's trade cooperation and openness, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) relies on the logistics as the foundational industry for its sustainable development. This study measures the green logistics efficiency (GLE) of BRI partner countries using panel data from 2013 to 2019 and evaluates the BRI's impact on their GLE. We find that: (1) The GLE of BRI partner countries is generally low, with only 15.9% achieving effectiveness. High-income countries have notably higher GLE than middle-income ones. (2) The GLE of BRI partner countries shows an upward trend annually, especially in middle-income countries, which are closing the gap with high-income countries. (3) The BRI has a significant positive impact on the GLE growth of partner countries. Heterogeneity analysis reveals that this growth effect is more pronounced in middle-income countries. These results indicate and enhance the understanding of GLE among BRI partner countries and addresses some skepticism regarding BRI's sustainable development.

Abstract :
Climate change is a critical global concern, and China's carbon emissions trading system (ETS), which was introduced in 2011, has significantly contributed to fostering green innovation. Based on the panel data of 284 cities in China from 2006 to 2020, the study examines the impacts and mechanisms of ETS on green innovation using difference in differences method (DID), mechanism testing models, and moderating effect models, and explores the spillover effects of the policy with the help of spatial Durbin models. The study finds that overall, ETS can significantly promote green innovation, with a more significant incentive effect observed for eastern and western cities and resource cities. In terms of the mechanism of action, ETS promotes green innovation by reducing the scale of foreign investment and improving the quality of foreign investment. Additionally, government environmental attention can significantly and positively regulate the relationship between ETS and green innovation. From a spatial spillover perspective, ETS can significantly enhance green innovation in local cities, but it may also inhibit green innovation in neighboring cities. The findings of this study hold significant implications for expediting the transition towards a green economy and promoting sustainable development.

Abstract :
Cooperation among companies is essential for reducing the whole-process carbon emissions of products, but the existence of asymmetric information can negatively affect the cooperation. The information-sharing framework based on blockchain technology can solve the problem and contribute to an efficient supply chain for collaborative carbon emission reduction. We obtain conditions on the optimal carbon reduction efforts of the producer and the retailer by designing a blockchain information sharing mechanism, and confirm that the optimal carbon reduction efforts are associated with consumers' low-carbon preferences. Our study shows that: (1) The blockchain-based information-sharing mechanism can improve the way that producers and retailers collaborate on carbon emission reductions and help them understand information on consumers' low-carbon preferences to make scientific decisions. (2) Companies have to pay an information rent to ensure that consumers correctly disclose their low-carbon preferences under information asymmetry. Blockchain technology eliminates the information rent and enables the overall efficiency of the supply chain. (3) An optimal blockchain cost-sharing factor exists that maximizes the overall supply chain revenue under the mechanism.

Abstract :
With the Chinese government promoting the "Double Carbon" policy and high-economic development, environmental regulation and economic efficiency research has become a hot topic. However, existing research focuses on industrial economic efficiency, ignoring logistics industry, which has high emissions and energy consumption. Based on provincial panel data from China's Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2009 to 2020, this paper uses a super-SBM, which includes undesirable outputs and is combined with the Global Malmquist-Luenberger (GML) index, to measure and analyze the regional logistics efficiency. Panel regression and threshold regression models are used to test the impact of formal and informal environmental regulations on logistics efficiency, rather than the common single perspective. The results indicate that: (1) Environmental regulation has a significant impact on the overall logistics efficiency of the Yangtze River Economic Belt during the study period, and there is a problem of regional development incongruity. The maximum difference in logistics efficiency between provinces is 0.5637. (2) The impact mechanism of formal and informal environmental regulations differs, and each percentage of informal environmental regulation has a promotion effect on logistics efficiency that is 0.0827% higher than that of formal environmental regulation. (3) Formal environmental regulation has a single threshold effect on logistics efficiency, whereas informal environmental regulation has a double threshold effect, demonstrating that overregulation can have the opposite effect. Based on different regulatory tools, this paper makes pertinent recommendations to promote the coordinated development of the logistics industry's economic and environmental benefits in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

Abstract :
At present, the main focus of research lies in examining the connection between economic complexity and carbon emissions as a whole, but there is a scarcity of quantitative investigations on the link between the above variables within specific industries. Therefore, this study introduces economic complexity as a new variable to build a panel model within the traditional Environmental Kuznets Curve framework. Based on the data of the countries along the Belt and Road from 1998 to 2018, we used the Granger causality test to examine the causal relationship between variables, and use the Fully Modified Ordinary Least Square and Dynamic Ordinary Least Square methods to estimate the coefficients of variables. The key factor linking economic complexity and carbon emissions in the logistics industry is technology innovation Economic complexity can explain and predict the changes in carbon emissions of logistics industry more reasonably, and the relationship between them in line with the environmental kuznets curve hypothesis. Only high-income countries can increase economic complexity while reducing carbon emissions of logistics industry. Based on the empirical analysis, it is suggested that upper-middle income and lower middle-income countries can formulate relevant policies and regulations, and high-income countries can improve the relevant policies and regulations to promote the reduction of carbon emissions of the logistics industry. Studying the impact of economic complexity on carbon emissions in the logistics industry can help better predict and respond to the impact of climate change on the logistics industry.

Abstract :
With the development of green logistics and the promotion of new energy vehicle development policies domestically and abroad, electric vehicles have been put into logistics and distribution as an alternative to traditional fuel vehicles. The Electric Vehicle Routing Problem (EVRP) has attracted widespread attention from the academic community. This paper comprehensively examines the latest research progress on electric vehicle routing models and solution algorithms in logistics and distribution. Firstly briefly introduces EVRP models considering battery losses; secondly, based on the composition of the EVRP objective function and constraints, EVRP models are classified into four types: EVRP considering load and battery life constraints, EVRP with a time window and considering charging strategies, the study of vehicle routing problems for hybrid fleets, and EVRP combined with charging/swapping station location. Then, briefly introduce exact algorithms, traditional heuristics, meta-heuristics, and hybrid algorithms for solving EVRP models. Moreover, it analyzes the main meta-heuristics that are more widely used. Finally, this review points out the development trend of EVRP theoretical methods.

Abstract :
Regarding the study of the time-dependent green vehicle path problem (TDGVRP), most of the literature uses the step function to represent the vehicle speed change in order to reduce the computation, ignoring the continuity of vehicle speed, which leads to the lack of accurate carbon emissions measurement. This study represents the vehicle speed variation as a continuous function to make the constructed model more consistent with the actual situation, in order to promote the reduction of carbon emissions generated in the logistics and distribution process, improve the greenhouse effect and ecological environment, and ultimately promote sustainable development. In this paper, a simulated annealing-genetic hybrid algorithm (GA-SA) is proposed to solve the constructed optimization model, and two sets of comparison experiments are designed. The experimental results show that compared with the two classical algorithms, the simulated annealing-genetic hybrid algorithm (GA-SA) has better solution performance, inherits the robustness and potential parallelism of the genetic algorithm, and has a higher practical value. Meanwhile, although the total driving distance of the vehicle path considering carbon emissions increases by 3.52 km, the carbon emission cost and the total cost decrease by 5.6% and 3.4%, respectively, which confirms that the path optimization model considering carbon emissions constructed in this study can not only play the role of restraining carbon emissions but also reduce the total distribution cost and the waste of resources. In this study, a continuous function is used to represent the vehicle speed variation, and two classical optimization algorithms (the genetic algorithm and simulated annealing algorithm) are combined and parameter-optimized, and certain innovations are made in the processing of vehicle speed and the solution algorithm. Finally, the effectiveness of the model and algorithm is verified by experiments.

Abstract :
As a pillar industry for national economic development and a key industry for carbon emission reduction in China, the logistics industry occupies a special place in the low carbon economy. In order to understand the spatial and temporal evolutionary characteristics and driving mechanisms of the efficiency of China's logistics industry, and to decipher the development path of the traditional logistics industry, this study selects the efficiency of China's provincial logistics industry as the research object. The study finds that the efficiency of China's logistics industry is at a low level of development and tends to fluctuate upwards, with the provinces with higher efficiency values concentrated in the eastern region; the level of economic development, the level of information technology, government logistics regulation and environmental regulations can significantly improve the efficiency of the logistics industry in the region, but energy intensity will have a negative impact on the efficiency of the logistics industry. In addition, the level of economic development of a region has a significant `siphoning effect' on other regions, inhibiting the development of the logistics industry in other regions. Finally, based on the findings of the study, recommendations are made to promote the green development of logistics.
