Abstract :

An experimental investigation was conducted to investigate the axial compressive behavior of square longitudinal-seam steel tubular (LSST) stub columns with artificial crack defect in weld. The axial compression tests were carried out on 108 square LSST stub columns with crack defect and 3 square LSST columns without crack defect as control groups. The effect of design parameters such as thickness of tube, length and width of crack defect, location of crack defect on axial compressive behavior of square LSST columns were analyzed. Test results involved failure modes, load-displacement behavior, ultimate strength, initial stiffness, and ductility coefficient of all specimens were presented. The corresponding FE models of square LSST columns with crack defect are established and validated by comparison with experimental results. Test results have demonstrated that crack defect often led to stress concentration, causing significantly higher strain intensity at the position of crack defect compared to other areas. Square LSST columns with crack defect exhibited a 26% lower ultimate strength at T = 2.5 mm. The ductility coefficient enhanced with the decrease of length and width of crack defect. However, the location of crack defect had limited effect on axial behavior of LSST columns. In addition, parametric formulae of ultimate strength for square LSST columns with crack defect are proposed, which achieved high accuracy. The research results could provide evaluation reference in design and construction of LSST column.

Abstract :

Significance The evolution of display technology is a cornerstone of modern technological advancement, fundamentally transforming how humans interact with machines. This transformation is vividly apparent in human-computer interactions, where the integration of sophisticated display technologies has led to more intuitive and immersive experiences. The global living standard improvement has further fueled expectations for advanced display devices, with consumers seeking higher quality, efficiency, and functionality. The advent of near-eye display technologies such as augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and virtual reality (VR) has only heightened the demands for high-resolution microdisplays. These emerging technologies require displays that provide not only high resolution but also compactness, energy efficiency, and the ability to reproduce colors accurately and vividly. The current market is dominated by micro-LED technology and recognized for its superior brightness and energy efficiency. However, the production of full-color micro-LEDs poses significant challenges, chiefly in the massive transfer of differently colored LED chips onto a single wafer. This process demands an exceptionally high yield rate, making it both technologically challenging and costly. As a new type of semiconductor nanocrystal materials with quantum confinement effects, quantum dots (QDs) have sparked great interest in the display field due to their unique properties such as tunable bandgaps, high quantum yields, high stability, and potential for cost-effective solution processing. QDs typically adopt a core- shell structure [Fig. 1(a)] and by adjusting the energy levels of the core-shell structure, excitons within the QDs can be confined. Organic ligands on the surface of QD shells provide steric hindrance among the dots, thus preventing aggregation and fluorescence quenching. The physicochemical properties of QDs can be adjusted by changing their organic ligands. Since Alivisatos's research team first reported LEDs with QDs as the electroluminescent layer in 1994, QD display devices have undergone 30 years of research. Additionally, high-resolution display devices using QDs have been realized via various patterning technologies to exhibit excellent device performance and fine pixel patterns. Although high-resolution patterning technology based on QDs has been extensively studied, there is still a lack of comprehensive reviews and summaries of recent work. Therefore, it is significant to summarize existing research and explore future development trends. Progress The current leading high-resolution QD patterning technologies encompass inkjet printing, photolithography, photo-crosslinking, region-selective deposition, transfer printing, and in-situ fabrication. These technologies are thoroughly compared and summarized in their process flows, strengths, and weaknesses, as depicted in Figs. 2, 6, and 8-12. In 2023, the team led by researcher Chen Zhuo from BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. utilized electrospray inkjet printing for fabricating both bottom-emitting and top-emitting electroluminescent QD devices, achieving a resolution of 500 ppi. In 2020, the team of Xu Xiaoguang at BOE successfully created a 500 ppi full-color passive matrix QD light-emitting device by a sacrificial layer-assisted photolithography method. That same year, Moon Sung Kang and the team at Sogang University in the republic of Korea developed a method for patterning QDs with a photo-driven ligand crosslinking agent, successfully producing full- color QD patterns with a resolution of 1400 ppi. In 2021, Sun Xiaowei and the team at Southern University of Science and Technology achieved a large-area full-color QD thin film with 1000 ppi resolution via selective electrophoretic deposition. In 2019, Hu Binbin at Henan University reported on assembling QD nanoparticles into microstructures via wetting-induced deposition. In 2021, the team led by Chen Shuming at Southern University of Science and Technology built a resonant cavity in white light QD light-emitting devices to achieve full-color patterned QD devices and a QD film patterning resolution of 8465 ppi. In 2015, Taeghwan Hyeon and the team at the Institute for Basic Science in the republic of Korea realized QD light-emitting devices with a resolution of 2460 ppi using gravure transfer printing technology. In 2022, our team collaborated with the team of Qian Lei at the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, integrated transfer printing with Langmuir-Blodgett film technology to create ultra-high pixel density QD light-emitting devices at 25400 ppi. In 2021, Zhong Haizheng and the team at the Beijing Institute of Technology prepared patterned CsPbI3 QD patterns on substrates via laser direct writing in situ. Conclusions and Prospects As carriers of visual information, display devices play an indispensable role in our daily lives. Emerging as revolutionary materials, QDs have become the ideal choice for next-generation display technologies with their unique properties such as tunable bandgaps, high quantum yields, and stability. Consequently, mastering high-resolution QD patterning is a crucial challenge that should be addressed for QD display devices to make significant strides in the market. In summary, various high-resolution QD patterning technologies require further detailed exploration to advance the applications and development of QD light-emitting devices in high-quality displays.

Abstract :

To improve the durability of marine renewable energy infrastructures, this paper proposed a weathering steel reinforced seawater sea-sand concrete (WSRSSC) structure and investigated its interfacial bond-slip behavior. Forty specimens were designed and underwent simulated marine corrosion tests and push-out tests to explore the effect of various factors, including the corrosion time, shaped steel type, steel section form, seawater sea-sand concrete (SSC) strength, and stirrup spacing. The findings indicated that the ultimate bond stress and residual bond stress increase with higher SSC strength but decrease with greater stirrup spacing. The steel section form significantly affected the ultimate bond stress. With the increase in corrosion time, the ultimate bond stress of WSRSSC specimens first increased and then slowly decreased in the later stages. Weathering steel specimens demonstrated superior corrosion resistance and long-term performance compared to carbon steel specimens. Considering the bond formation mechanism and corrosion damage, the calculation model for the ultimate bond stress and residual bond stress of WSRSSC specimens was proposed. Furthermore, the four-stage bond-slip constitutive model between weathering steel and seawater sea-sand concrete was established, aligning with the bond characteristics of different corrosion degrees and contributing to the numerical simulation of WSRSSC structures in corrosive marine environments.

Abstract :

As carriers of visual information, displays play an indispensable role in our daily life. In recent years, high-resolution (HR) self-emissive displays have been rapidly developed because of the expanding market demand for microdisplay products; consequently, research on the improvement of display resolution, material and device structure optimization, the design and development of drive circuits, and various applications of HR display technology has significantly increased. However, there is no comprehensive review of HR light-emitting devices. This review focuses on HR light-emitting technologies. The main contents of the review are as follows: (1) methods for fabricating HR light-emitting devices; (2) processes for fabricating self-emissive displays and other potential fine patterning techniques for the same purpose; (3) the advantages and limitations of these processes; (4) the challenges associated with HR displays. This review can serve as a valuable reference for the development of the microdisplay industry and for studies on microdisplays.

Study on shear behavior of super-tightened high-strength bolted group connections SCIE

Abstract :

Shear tests on 63 super-tightened high-strength bolt groups were carried out to investigate the damage mode, load displacement, ductility, and other mechanical indicators. The effects of key parameters such as different core plate thickness, super-tightened bolt number, super-tightened bolt position, and the high-strength bolts preload force on the shear performance of highstrength bolt group were analyzed. The finite element model was built and a parametric expansion investigation was carried out. Results have demonstrated that the failure mode is typical bolt shear damage, with cover end deformation and bolt hole extrusion deformation. The increment of super-tightened bolts number and the super-tightened bolt preload improve the antisliding bearing capacity. However, plate thickness and super-tightened bolt position have no effect on the anti-sliding bearing capacity. The shear ultimate bearing capacity of the supertightened high-strength bolt group is not significantly different from that of the standard specimen. The ductility is negatively correlated with the number of super-tightened bolts and the super-tightened bolt preload, but the decrease percentage is within 25%. Additionally, the results obtained from the finite element simulation are in agreement with the experimental findings. The simulation analysis shows that increasing the strength grade of high-strength bolts would enhance the ultimate bearing capacity. The specimens treated with sprayed quality quartz sand exhibit a higher anti-sliding bearing capacity compared to those with a clean rolled plate surface. Finally, the genetic algorithm was used to obtain the optimal and most unfavorable states under different mechanical properties based on experimental data.

Abstract :

Information encryption is an important means to improve the security of anti-counterfeiting labels. At present, it is still challenging to realize an anti-counterfeiting label with multi-function, high security factor, low production cost, and easy detection and identification. Herein, using inkjet and screen printing technology, we construct a multi-dimensional and multi-level dynamic optical anti counterfeiting label based on instantaneously luminescent quantum dots and long afterglow phosphor, whose color and luminous intensity varied in response to time. Self-assembled quantum dot patterns with intrinsic fingerprint information endow the label with physical unclonable functions (PUFs), and the information encryption level of the label is significantly improved in view of the information variation in the temporal dimension. Furthermore, the convolutional residual neural networks are used to decode the massive information of PUFs, enabling fast and accurate identification of the anti-counterfeit labels.

Abstract :

The land-ocean aquatic continuum is affected notably by damming, yet the effects of changing dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and optical properties in the reservoir zone of dammed rivers on the downstream waterbodies remain unclear. This was studied in the Minjiang River (SE China) in the normal, wet, and dry seasons, using the measurements of DOC, absorption spectroscopy, and fluorescence excitation-emission matrices-parallel factor analysis (EEMs-PARAFAC). The DOC and absorption spectral slope (S275-295) increased while the absorption coefficient (a280) and DOC-specific UV absorbance (SUVA254) decreased in the surface water of the reservoir. This indicated removals of chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) and potential additions of autoch-thonous constituents with lower aromaticity and molecular weight. The discharge of more humified DOC from the middle and deep outlets of the reservoir was evident in the adjacent downstream station in the wet season. The DOC and optical indices were generally stable in the downstream river zone in the normal and dry seasons, suggesting that these signals from the reservoir could persist downstream. In contrast, the downstream DOC and CDOM showed evident additions in the wet season, which might be related to enhanced inputs from the sur-rounding soils and residential areas in the rainy and hot summer. The absorption coefficient and humic-like components correlated strongly with salinity in the estuarine zone, indicating they were mainly conservative in the estuary of this study. This suggested that the refractory DOC from the reservoir and river zones could pass the estuary and contribute to the carbon storage in the coastal ocean. In contrast, the protein-like components did not correlate significantly with salinity, indicating more active modifications of labile constituents in the estuary. Overall, our results have implications for assessing the effects of damming on DOC and optical properties across the land-ocean aquatic continuum.

Abstract :

Metals used in the electronics, machinery manufacturing, and construction industry are often chemically reactive and corrosion-prone, while barriers on a metal as a conventional method for anticorrosion always have negative effects including a toxic nature, thickness increase over time, and changes of electrical and optical properties after surface coating. This study employs a benzene solution to induce a rapid formation of a polycrystalline graphene film on copper foils or iron sheet substrates under atmospheric conditions by electromagnetic induction, which is non-toxic and environment-friendly and produces favorable anticorrosive effects. The microscopic analysis shows that the as-grown film is a polycrystalline graphene complex of graphene crystallites. It is revealed that the copper foils or iron sheets with the graphene film is significantly resistant to strong corrosion, with the corrosion current density is one order of magnitude lower when compared with samples without the graphene films. The polycrystalline structure of the graphene film can prevent the electronic conduction of the surface, thereby reducing corrosion and local over-corrosion phenomena when metals are situated in a long-term exposure to corrosive environments.

整体式桥台H形钢桩基受力性能试验研究 PKU

Abstract :

为研究温度或地震荷载作用下H形钢桩基的受力性能,分别开展了平衡与非平衡土压力状态下H形钢桩基-土相互作用拟静力试验研究,对比分析了整体桥H形钢桩基桩侧土抗力、桩身应变和弯矩等.结果 表明,不平衡土压力会对正向加载下的桩基受力性能产生显著影响,但对负向加载下的影响不大.桥台-H形钢桩(AHP)试件和台后不平衡土压力下H形钢桩(UHP)试件正向加载时的桩侧土抗力、桩身应变和弯矩显著大于负向加载,而平衡土压力状态下的H形钢桩(HP)试件正向与负向加载时的桩侧土抗力、桩身应变和弯矩基本一致.AHP试件的桩侧土抗力、桩身应变和弯矩最大,UHP试件次之,HP试件最小,故AHP试件更快进入弹塑性状态.

Abstract :

Simulating synaptic function and building brain-inspired computers have received widespread attention. The memristor is considered to be an electronic version of the synapse and an excellent element for creating a brand-new artificial intelligence system in the future. However, most memristor-based electronic synapses currently exhibit low stability due to complex resistance switching processes. Based on a controllable in-situ formation strategy that we were able to employ with atomic layer deposition, we fabricated electronic synapses based on Au@Al2O3 core-shell nanoparticles. Our device exhibited extremely reliable, stable, and durable performance and showed a capability to emulate biological synaptic behavior, including synaptic plasticity, long-term depression (LTD), long-term potentiation (LTP), amplitude dependence, and frequency dependence. This research provides a strategy for manufacturing highly-reliable electronic synapses for neuromorphic applications.
