Reactant and Waste Minimization during Sample Preparation on Micro-Electrode-Dot-Array Digital Microfluidic Biochips using Splitting Trees SCIE

Abstract :

Biological assays around "lab-on-a-chip (LoC)" are required in multiple concentration (or dilution) factors, satisfying specific sample concentrations. Unfortunately, most of them suffer from non-locality and are non-protectable, requiring a large footprint and high purchase cost. A digital geometric technique can generate arbitrary gradient profiles for digital microfluidic biochips (DMFBs). A next- generation DMFB has been proposed based on the microelectrode-dot-array (MEDA) architectures are shown to produce and disperse droplets by channel dispensing and lamination mixing. Prior work in this area must address the problem of reactant and waste minimization and concurrent sample preparation for multiple target concentrations. This paper proposes the first splitting-droplet sharing algorithm for reactant and waste minimization of multiple target concentrations on MEDAs. The proposed algorithm not only minimizes the consumption of reagents but also reduces the number of waste droplets by preparing the target concentrations concurrently. Experimental results on a sequence of exponential gradients are presented in support of the proposed method and demonstrate its effectiveness and efficiency. Compared to prior work, the proposed algorithm can achieve up to a 24.8% reduction in sample usage and reach an average of 50% reduction in waste droplets.

Abstract :

采用内冷式搅拌法制备了A319铝合金半固态浆料,研究了内冷块与铝合金液质量比、铝合金液温度、搅拌速度等工艺参数对半固态浆料显微组织的影响,分析了内冷式搅拌过程中半固态浆料的形成机理。结果表明,在内冷块与铝合金液质量比为5%、铝合金液温度为625℃、搅拌速度为1 100r/min时,可以制备出组织良好的半固态浆料,其中初生α-Al相平均晶粒尺寸和形状因子分别达到了59.7μm和0.74。提高内冷搅拌速度不仅能提高初生α-Al相的圆整度,还具有晶粒细化效应。

Abstract :

The semi-solid slurry of A319, A356, A380, ZL203, 7075 aluminum alloy were prepared by the internal cooling process. The effects of the stirring speed, the mass ratio of internal cooling block to aluminum melt and the temperature of aluminummelt on microstructure of A319 semi-solid slurry were researched. The results indicate that the roundness of the primaryparticles and grain refinement effects can be increased with the increasing of stirring speed. The well globular primary α-Al was produced when the mass ratio of internal cooling block to aluminum melt was 3%, temperature of aluminum melt was 615 ℃ and the mass ratio of internal cooling block to aluminummelt was 5%, temperature of aluminummelt was 615-625 ℃, in which the average diameter and shape factor of the primary α-Al particles was 61-71 μm and 0.68-0.73 respectively. The process of nucleation and growth of the spheroidal primary α-Al during the internal cooling process were analyzed. © 2016, Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. All right reserved.

Abstract :

The semi-solid slurry of A319 aluminum alloy was prepared by internal cooling process. Effects of parameters, such as the mass ratio of internal cooling block to aluminum melt, the temperature of a-luminum melt and the stirring speed, on the microstructure of semi-solid slurry were investigated. The forming mechanism of semi-solid slurry prepared by the internal cooling process was described. The results indicate that desirable globular primary a-Al can be produced when the mass ratio of internal cooling block to aluminum melt is 5% with temperature of aluminum melt of 625℃ and stirring speed of 1 100 r/min, where the average diameter and shape factor of the primary a-Al particles reach 59.7 jum and 0.74, respectively. Roundness of the primary particles and grain refinement effects can be improved with the increase of stirring speed. © 2016, Journal Office of Special Casting and Nonferrous Alloys. 采用内冷式搅拌法制备了A319、A356、A380、ZL203、7075等5种牌号铝合金的半固态浆料.研究了内冷搅拌速度、内冷块/铝液质量比、铝液温度对A319半固态浆料显微组织的影响.结果表明:提高内冷搅拌速度不仅能提高初生α-Al相圆整度,还具有晶粒细化效应.在内冷块/铝液质量比为3%、铝液温度为615℃以及内冷块/铝液质量比为5%、铝液温度为615~625℃条件下均可以制备出组织良好的半固态浆料,显微组织中初生α-Al相平均晶粒尺寸和形状因子分别可以达到61~71 μm和0.68~0.73.分析了内冷式搅拌法制备铝合金半固态浆料过程中球状晶的形核及长大过程.

Abstract :

采用ZQS2000型双试棒合金热裂线收缩仪、金相显微镜、扫描电镜以及能谱分析等研究了Al-7Zn-2.5Mg-Cu合金的凝固特性与热裂。结果表明,该合金凝固过程中,冷却速率与线收缩率先快后慢。收缩应力在固相网形成后产生,并急剧上升。该合金的热裂纹在α-Al基体相的晶界上形成并发展。其热裂取决于共晶转变前初晶的收缩应变率、液相的补缩和共晶转变过程中共晶体积的收缩。共晶转变前初晶的收缩应变率小、液相补缩及时,共晶转变过程中共晶数量较少,其体积收缩小,都会减小合金的热裂倾向。

研究了低温室效应的HFC-227ea/Air(空气)对AZ91D镁合金的保护效果.结果表明:以空气为稀释气体时,HFC-227ea能很好地保护镁熔体,其所需的保护气体浓度为0.07%~ 0.50%.保护效果随着气体浓度的增加、温度的降低而变好.采用SEM、EDS和XRD等分析手段对保护膜进行检测分析可知,保护膜主要由Mg、F和O三种元素组成,其主要物相为MgF2,含有少量的MgO.保护膜的厚度随着保温时间的延长而增加,保温120 min时保护膜厚度约为3.31 μm.刚开始形成的保护膜有深色凹陷的MgF2颗粒,随着保温时间的延长,MgF2颗粒不断增加、长大,最终连成片.保护膜主要由MgF2组成,故致密度高,对镁熔体有很好的保护效果.

Abstract :

采用约束棒法评定不同浇注温度下Al-7Zn-2.5Mg-Cu合金的热裂倾向,采用OM观察了合金的显微组织.结果表明,不同浇注温度下,合金的显微组织均为等轴晶结构.随着浇注温度升高,合金的晶粒粗化,晶间共晶数量减少,且由连续分布逐渐转变成半连续分布,热裂倾向增大.但浇注温度为680℃时,合金出现浇不足缺陷.在保证该合金充型能力的前提下,降低浇注温度是减少其热裂倾向的有效途径.

Abstract :

采用SEM、EDS和DSC等方法研究稀土氧化物对采用氟盐法制备Al-Ti-C-RE的热力学影响。结果表明:Al与K2TiF6发生铝热放热反应生成TiA13及部分游离态[Ti],在铝热反应的作用下,稀土氧化物Ce2O3与C发生碳热反应,生成大量的CeC2,该相与游离态[Ti]易反应生成TiC和原子态[Ce],反应生成的[Ce]为表面活性元素,吸附在TiA13相上形成Al2Ti20Ce。DSC分析结果表明,添加稀土氧化物Ce2O3可在1120℃左右自发产生碳热反应。因此,在铝热反应的基础上,利用稀土氧化物与石墨粉之间的碳热反应,不仅可以降低制备Al-Ti-C-RE细化剂的反应温度,同时还可提高C与铝熔体的润湿性,促进TiC粒子的生成。

在开放式熔炼炉中熔化了AZ91D镁合金,研究了不同粒度的FeS2和空气气氛中不同含量的Ar对AZ91D镁合金熔炼保护效果.采用SEM、EDS和XRD对保护膜形貌、成分和相组成进行了分析.结果表明,温度为730℃时,加入一定量硫铁矿的保护效果是好的.熔炼温度为730℃,保温30min时,硫铁矿粒度越小,保护效果越好,但当粒度减小到一定程度时,保护效果反而减弱;随着空气含量的降低,保护效果加强,但当空气含量太少时,保护效果开始减弱.
