Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The video retrieval system we developed for TRECVID 2012 mainly involves the semantic indexing task which includes key frame extraction, low level feature extraction, classification and concept fusion. We extracted a new low level feature, explored various classification and fusion schemes. Four 'light' runs and two 2 'pair' runs we submitted are as follows: L_A_FudaSys1: Fusion based on concept ontology. L_A_FudaSys2: Weighted fusion of SVM and KNN outputs. L_A_FudaSys3: Average fusion of KNN results. L_A_FudaSys4: Average fusion of SVM outputs. P_A_FudaSys1: Weighted fusion of KNN and SVM Outputs. P_A_FudaSys2: Concept relation fusion of KNN and SVM outcomes. In our experiments, we also implemented various special detectors to detect screen text, black screen and human face to enhance system performance.

Abstract :

This paper summarizes our approaches to the semantic indexing task in TRECVID 2010. Several fusion strategies are employed in our detection system, including a low-level feature concatenation, text retrieval fusion, and ontology relation fusion. It can be drawn that the fusion of text retrieval results with a baseline in a proper way can contribute greatly to the system performance. Our approach to ontology relation fusion increases the number of the inferred true shots returned. Two of our runs using fusion schemes have the best infAP for a feature among the 30 features evaluated. We describe our text and ontology relation fusion schemes in detail in this paper. The description of our submission runs for the semantic indexing is as follows.

Abstract :

In this paper we describe our approaches to the high-level feature extraction task in TRECVID 2009. Our semantic detection system is based on 6 basic low-level features as well as merged features. We have experimented with several fusion strategies, especially the low-level feature concatenation and Borda fusion. Our experiments showed that the second Borda fusion could increase the number of the true shots returned, but not inevitably improve the mean inferred average precision. Experiments also revealed that the selection of various low-level features and fusion schemes is very crucial for achieving a good system performance. The description of our 6 runs for the high-level feature detection is as follows.

Abstract :

Video Shot boundary detection is a fundamental task in any kind of video content manipulation and retrieval. The area of shot boundary detection has been extensively studied, but achieving highly accurate detection results remains a challenge. In this paper, we present a novel algorithm for video cut detection. The algorithm is implemented and evaluated on the TRECVID benchmark platform. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The algorithm provides a clue to the gradual transition detection.

Abstract :

In this paper, the existence of coexistence states in the Voterra-Lotka competition model under Dirichlet boundary conditions is the major concern. Attention will be focused on the logistic equation. With a comparison theorem an inequality satisfied by the solution of logistic equation is established. Some improved sufficient conditions for the existence of coexistence states are obtained. © 1998, Appl. Math.-JCU. All rights reserved.
