Abstract :
Two new heterometallic inorganic-organic hybrids containing polynuclear halobismuthates anions and ruthenium complex cations, i.e., [Ru(tpy)(2)](2)[(Bi2I7Cl2)center dot I] (1), [Ru(bipy)(2)(bipyo](2)(Bi4I16) (2), (tpy = 2,2':6',2aEuro(3)-terpyridine, bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine, bipyo = 2,2'-bipyridine-6-olato) have been structurally determined. These hybrids are the rare examples of mixed-metal halobismuthates containing photochemically active coordination cations, and 1 consists of mixed halo atoms. C-H center dot center dot center dot I hydrogen bonds among halobismuthates clusters and [Ru(tpy)(2)](2+)/[Ru(bipy)(2)(bipyo](2+) countercations contribute to the formation of a 3-D network. Moreover, their absorption spectra and photoluminescence have also been discussed, and their absorption edges fall in the range of those of semiconductors. Two new heterometallic inorganic-organic hybrids containing polynuclear halobismuthates anions and ruthenium complex cations have been structurally determined, which represent the rare examples of mixed-metal halobismuthates containing photochemically active coordination cation and mixed halo atoms. C-H center dot center dot center dot I hydrogen bonds contribute to the formation of a 3-D network, and their absorption spectra and photoluminescence have also been discussed.

Abstract :
Ga-doped Gd3Fe5O12 (GIG) single-crystals with various doping concentration were successfully grown by the edge-defined film fed growth (EFG) technique. XRD pattern and SEM micrographs confirm that the as-grown crystal is in the single GIG phase with good crystal quality. The success of growing Ga:GIG crystal by using EFG method provide a new way to grow the single crystal of the incongruent melting compound. The magnetic parameters such as the Curie temperature T-c, the saturation magnetization 1145, the magnetic coercivity H-c, the magnetic saturation field H-s, the Faraday rotation angle of as-grown crystals were measured. After as-grown crystal was annealed at 800 degrees C in oxygen atmosphere, the optical transmittance can be significantly enhanced. The reason for the change of the saturation magnetization M-s, before and after annealing is also discussed. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract :
A new low-dimensional benzyl viologen/iodoargentate hybrid, [(BV) 2(Ag5I9)]n (1) (BV2+ = benzyl viologen) was prepared. In 1, (Ag6I9) n2- chain exhibits a new type of one-dimensional chain constructed from vertex-sharing of Ag5I10 units, and its two-dimensional layer structure was constructed from C- H···I hydrogen bonds. Strong luminescence at 404 nm can be detected in 1. DFT calculation suggests that 1 displays a reduced bandgap, which is led by a more dispersed LUMO band of BV2+ compared with MV 2+ in [MV(Ag2I4)]n. 以石蜡为主要原料,加入一定量的微晶蜡,采用纯氧气进行催化氧化改性,考察了反应温度、反应时间、氧气流速、催化剂用量、助剂用量等因素对氧化蜡性质的影响。结果表明,氧化蜡的结构中出现羰基官能团;在以质量分数为0.52%的硫酸锰为催化剂,质量分数为12%的硬脂酸为助剂,氧气流速为75~85 mL/ min,150℃条件下4 h,可以得到色泽浅、气味轻、酸值为23.44 mg KOH/ g,皂化值为49.13 mg KOH/ g 的优质氧化蜡。

Abstract :
Although terbium gallium garnet (TGG) single crystals suitable for practical applications have been grown by the Czochralski technique due to its congruent melting nature, the inter face shape readily deteriorates to spiral growth when grown with a flat inter face or facet formation when grown with a convex interface. The Edge-defined Film-fed Growth (EFG) method was used to grow TGG crystals for the first time. The influence of the raw material sintering temperature, growth atmosphere, growth rate and other growth conditions on the crystal quality were investigated. The Verdet constant of as-grown crystal was measured as 39 rad/T.m at 1064 nm by the extinction method, which was close to the literature value. The source of color centers in the crystals is also discussed. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Crystalline yttrium iron garnet (YIG) is an important magneto-optical material. However, this crystal is an incongruent melting compound. As is well known, compared to the crystal growth of a congruent melting compound by using the Czochralski method, the crystal growth of an incongruent melting compound is more difficult. In this work, a system for growing Ga:YIG single crystals by the edge-defined film-fed growth (EFG) method was designed and constructed, and the mechanism of crystal growth was also preliminarily studied. The Ga3+ dopant concentration, the Curie temperature and the transmission spectra of as-grown crystals were investigated to evaluate their potential application in magneto-optical devices. The success of growing Ga: YIG crystals by the EFG method provides a new way to grow other incongruent melting compounds.
