Abstract :
CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) is a potential dielectric material with giant permittivity, good stability over the wide temperature and frequency range. However, the dielectric responses of CCTO-based ceramics are mainly investigated in the frequency of 10(2)-10(6) Hz, which is far low to clarify the intrinsic dielectric feature. So, microwave dielectric properties have been investigated for the CCTO porous ceramics sintered at low temperature (<= 1000 degrees C). Good microwave dielectric properties of permittivity epsilon = 62.7, quality factor Qf = 3062 GHz and temperature coefficient of the resonant frequency tau(f) = 179 ppm/degrees C are achieved for the CCTO ceramics sintered at 1000 degrees C, the dielectric loss significantly decreases two orders to 0.002 compared to that of CCTO ceramics sintered at critical temperature of 1020 degrees C confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). This clue indicates that giant permittivity and high loss is not intrinsic for CCTO ceramics, but derives from composition segregation, liquid phase and defects associated with internal barrier layer capacitor (IBLC). It suggests that CCTO-based ceramics is a promising microwave dielectric materials with high permittivity.

Abstract :
Sintering characteristics, phase evolutions, microstructures, and microwave dielectric properties have been investigated for BaTi4O9 ceramics prepared by traditional low temperature sintering using CuO-TiO2 (CT) additions as aids. The sintering temperature of BaTi4O9 ceramics was found to evidently reduce from 1350 degrees C to about 1100 degrees C with a very small amount of 0.5 wt% CT addition. When the CT addition increased to beyond 0.5 wt%, however, it was not expected to further lower the sintering temperature. Meantime, the secondary phases of Ba4Ti13O30, BaTiO3, and TiO2 were observed in these BaTi4O9-based ceramics when the CT content was beyond 2 wt%. With the introduction of the CT addition, the permittivity (epsilon) had little enhancement, and the temperature coefficient of the resonant frequency (tau(f)) was improved to near zero. The BaTi4O9 ceramics with 0.5 wt% CT additions, sintered at 1100 degrees C, exhibited excellent microwave dielectric properties, such as epsilon = 36.9, Q x f = 23100 GHz, and tau(f) = 2.5 ppm/degrees C. In addition, the densification mechanism and variations of the microwave dielectric properties have also been discussed with the crystal phase and microstructure's evolution.

Abstract :
High density Ba4Sm2Fe2Nb8O30 (BSFN) multiferroics ceramics with tetragonal tungsten bronze structure had been prepared by microwave sintering (MS) for 30min and conventional sintering (CS) methods for 4 h at 1275 degrees C. Single tungsten bronze phase and equiaxial grains are obtained for the MS BSFN ceramics, while a small amount secondary phase of SmNbO4 is observed in the CS BSFN ceramics with columnar grains. Compared to Ba4Sm2Fe2Nb8O30 ceramics prepared by CS method, enhanced dielectric, ferroelectric and magnetic properties are achieved for the MS BSFN ceramics. The values of electric polarization Pr and coercive electric field Ec are 2.11 mu C/cm2 and 7.14 kV/cm for the MS BSFN ceramics, respectively. Meantime, the magnetic polarization Mr of 0.410emu/g and coercive magnetic field Hc of 2930Oe are also obtained for the MS BSFN ceramics. Based on the density, crystal structure, point defect and grain, the reasons of enhanced dielectric, ferroelectric and magnetic properties are discussed for the MS BSFN ceramics It is indicated that Ba4Sm2Fe2Nb8O30 is an intrinsic room temperature multiferroic materials.

CuO powder with microspheres, submicron sheets had been synthesized only from CuSO4 and Na2CO3 aqueous solutions by a facile route. Significant effects of initial droplet size of CuSO4 aqueous solution were observed on particle size, morphology and gas sensitivity of CuO. The morphologies of CuO powder varied from microspheres to submicron sheets with the introduction method of CuSO4 to Na2CO3 aqueous solutions. Based on the characterized structure and morphology, a possible formation mechanism of CuO had been proposed. High gas sensitivity to ethanol was obtained for the CuO microspheres synthesized by spray method, which exhibited the response sensitivity of 3.25 to ethanol with the concentration of 300 ppm at 250 degrees C. It suggests that the facile route is promising to the batch synthesis of CuO powder with good gas sensing properties.

Abstract :
CuO hollow microspheres had been batch synthesized by a facile route of precipitating and annealing at 270 A degrees C, which was derived from CuSO4 center dot 5H(2)O, Na2CO3 and CTAB. The morphology and structure of synthesized CuO powder were characterized by XRD, SEM, UV-Vis and BET. The formation mechanism of CuO hollow microspheres had been proposed based on the characterized structure and morphology. Firstly, the tiny Cu-2(OH)(2)CO3 crystal strips are formed from CuSO4 and Na2CO3 aqueous solutions. Secondly, the tiny Cu-2(OH)(2)CO3 crystal strips are assembled perpendicularly to the spherical CTA(+) micelles surface due to the template of CTAB. Finally, the CuO hollow microspheres have been obtained due to the decomposition of Cu-2(OH)(2)CO3 and burning of CTAB after annealing at 270 A degrees C. High gas sensitivity to ethanol was achieved for the CuO hollow microspheres. The response of CuO hollow microspheres sensor is 5.6 to ethanol with the concentration of 400 ppm at 250 A degrees C, and the responses/recover time is 17.0/11.9 s. Therefore, it indicates that the facile and batch route is a promising method to synthesize CuO hollow microspheres with excellent gas sensing properties.

Effect of 35BaO-35ZnO-30B(2)O(3) (BZB) addition on the sintering behaviors, phase evolution and microwave dielectric properties of Ti-modified Ba3Ti5Nb6O28 (Ba3Ti5.1Nb5.9O27.95, BTNO) ceramics had been investigated. BZB addition effectively reduced the sintering temperature of BTNO from 1250 A degrees C to about 900 A degrees C. With increasing BZB addition, the crystal phase of the present ceramics changed from single phase Ba3Ti5Nb6O28 to mixing phases of Ba3Ti5Nb6O28 and Ba3Ti4Nb4O21. And the major phase gradually became from Ba3Ti5Nb6O28 to Ba3Ti4Nb4O21. Dielectric constant and temperature coefficient increased with the rising of BZB addition. But the Qf value gradually declined from 28000 to about 6000 GHz. The BTNO ceramics with 15% BZB addition exhibited excellent microwave dielectric properties as following: epsilon = 46.3, Qf = 5887 GHz and tau(f) = 35.5 ppm/degrees C, which was potential of candidate materials for LTCC application. And the variation of microwave dielectric properties had been also discussed with the phase and microstructure evolution.

重点研究了老挝石的化学成分、形貌特征和矿物组成,并与寿山石进行了比较.研究结果表明,老挝石样品的相对密度为2.52~2.65,主要化学成分为SiO2和Al2O3,与高岭石族矿物的标准值相近;在显微镜下,老挝石样品中地开石的颗粒较粗,高岭石颗粒较小,在扫描电子显徽镜下,地开石晶粒结晶完好,呈假六方片状,粒径较大,高岭石呈片状,结晶程度较好,粒径较小,珍珠陶石颗粒细,结晶程度较低.通过统计,老挝石样品的主要矿物组成为高岭石族矿物,包括地开石、高岭石和珍珠陶石,没有叶蜡石和伊利石.老挝石样品中含有高岭石矿物的占2/3以上,高山石类寿山石中含有地开石的占2/3以上,寿山田黄石中未见高岭石,而“老挝田黄”样品均含高岭石.

Structure and dielectric properties have been investigated for CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) ceramics prepared by rapid sintering with relatively high sintering temperature and very short holding time. A very small amount of CuO is observed in XRD patterns of CCTO ceramics. Surface SEM of CCTO ceramics exhibits large grain and intergranular phase. Complex impedance spectra indicate that the internal barrier layer capacitor (IBLC) microstructure has been formed in the CCTO ceramics. And a giant dielectric permittivity of 8.5 x 10(3) at 1 kHz is achieved for the CCTO ceramics sintered at 1130 A degrees C for 30 min. The rapid sintering method may be effective in applying these ceramics, which are expected to facilitate IBLC microstructure.
