Abstract :

Abstract :
With the increasing frequency of extreme disasters, effectively utilizing park green spaces in both daily life and disaster scenarios has emerged as a new challenge, particularly in county-level cities. In this context, the core planning area of Anxi County in Quanzhou was selected as the study site. By adjusting the layout and scale of park green spaces, this research investigates how such modifications influence the quality of the urban wind environment and green space accessibility in county-level cities. The results show the following: (1) Under the vegetation ratio of trees-shrubs-herbaceous plants, the ventilation performance of the urban wind environment improved at a daily wind speed of 5 m/s. The wind speed increased from the current low base speed (0-1 m/s) to a moderate speed (2-5 m/s), significantly enhancing the comfort of the population. (2) Under the vegetation ratio of trees-shrubs-herbaceous plants, the overall disaster-prevention performance of the county improved. During typhoon wind speeds (50 m/s), the wind speed gradually decreased from partially higher speeds (40-50 m/s) to lower speeds (10-20 m/s), resulting in a significant improvement in the wind environment. (3) After optimizing the layout of park green spaces, accessibility was greatly enhanced, better meeting the needs of the population in the developed area.

Abstract :
In the realm of sustainable city planning, a nuanced understanding of how individuals perceive environmental elements and their emotional responses holds paramount importance. The purpose of this study was to investigate how individuals perceive the audiovisual environment and its relationship to place attachment within Kulangsu, a World Cultural Heritage site. Specifically, the researchers explored the moderating effects among soundscape characteristics (pleasantness and eventfulness), visual landscape satisfaction, and place attachment. The study employed on-site questionnaires to collect data from participants. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and stratified regression analyses were used to explore moderating effects. Our findings revealed that participants hold positive views toward both soundscape and visual landscape, with functional dependence on place outweighing emotional attachment. Key insights emerged: (1) various characteristics of the soundscape yield different moderating effects. Specifically, highly pleasant or minimally eventful soundscapes significantly strengthen the positive impact of visual landscape satisfaction on place attachment. (2) visual landscape emerges as a crucial moderator and high visual satisfaction amplifies the positive impact of a pleasant soundscape, while lower satisfaction intensifies the positive effect of an eventful soundscape on attachment. (3) the positive correlations between visual landscape and soundscape remain stable, unaffected by the moderating influence of place attachment. These results suggest that both soundscape and visual elements shape attachment differently, providing actionable insights for urban planners aiming to create sustainable, culturally sensitive environment, especially within World Cultural Heritage sites. The findings offer a holistic perspective on the dynamic interplay between individuals and their urban environments, informing global urban policy.

Abstract :
The design of street spaces significantly influences public behavior and quality of life. Understanding how various urban street spatial characteristics affect public behavior, alongside the role of multi-sensory perception, enables designers and planners to create more human-centered urban environments. Grounded in landsenses ecology, this study employs correlation analysis, regression analysis, and Partial Least-Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine the effects of different urban street spatial characteristics on public behavior and the mediating role of multi-sensory perception. The findings reveal that street spatial characteristics, particularly the Water Surface Ratio (WSR) and Waterfront Density (WD), have a pronounced impact on behavioral traits, with higher public activity frequencies in areas with elevated WSR and WD. Notably, WSR significantly affects static behaviors, such as sunbathing (beta = 0.371, p < 0.001), and dynamic behaviors, such as walking (beta = 0.279, p < 0.001). While road and water characteristics directly influence behavior, buildings and green spaces mainly affect public behavior through multi-sensory perception. Different sensory perceptions show varying effects, with olfactory perception playing a significant role in these experiences, alongside a notable chain-mediated effect between tactile perception and psychological cognition. These results provide valuable insights for integrating multi-sensory experiences into urban design.

Abstract :
Urbanization has led to a significant increase in noise pollution, severely impacting the psychological well-being of urban dwellers. This review critically evaluates the effectiveness of urban blue-green spaces in mitigating noise pollution and enhancing tranquility experiences. Initially, this study utilizes CiteSpace visualization software for bibliometric analysis to scrutinize the current research landscape and pinpoint emerging trends. We systematically searched the Web of Science (WoS) database with the following parameters: Topic = (("noise" OR "tranquility") AND ("soundscape" OR "green space" OR "blue space" OR "blue-green spaces")), 2015 to 2024. Through meticulous screening, 1504 articles were selected as the final research sample. We discuss both subjective and objective methods for assessing tranquility, and we categorize and thoroughly review the various factors influencing perceptions of urban tranquility. These factors include the interplay between natural and anthropogenic soundscapes, the authenticity of visual environments, and the unique auditory characteristics of human activities. Additionally, our review highlights the pivotal role of individual behavioral propensities and cultural frameworks in crafting tranquility experiences, and proposes a shift from reactive noise prevention to proactive tranquility exposure research. The insights provided here lay a foundation for future academic exploration and offer practical guidance for planning and management of blue-green infrastructure.

Abstract :
Urban noise has become a significant concern for public health and well-being, prompting growing interest in understanding its spatial patterns and drivers. In the context of quiet city development, this study investigates whether the morphology of urban green spaces influences noise propagation and noise complaint distribution. Taking Fuzhou City, China, as a case study, we investigated the spatial distribution characteristics of green space form metrics and noise complaints. Subsequently, we employed Spearman correlation analysis and the Multiscale Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) model to explore their spatiotemporal associations. Results show that: (1) Noise complaint hotspots are concentrated in high-traffic commercial zones, dense residential areas, and construction sites; (2) Key green space indicators influencing complaint patterns include the Number of Patches (NP) and Patch Density (PD); (3) Mean Patch Area (MPA) and Radius of Gyration (MRG) contribute to temporal differences, with more aggregated green spaces showing stronger noise buffering effects. These findings highlight the critical role of green space configuration in urban acoustic environments and provide a scientific basis for improving green space planning and noise control strategies in support of healthy and livable cities.

Abstract :
From a human-centric perspective, improving the spatial quality of historical districts is a key focus in achieving their refined governance. Based on a public survey performed in Zhangzhou Ancient City, we explored the differences in the perception of cultural landscape genes (CLGs) between residents and tourists with different individual characteristics, utilizing non-parametric tests and box-plot analysis methods. The findings indicate the following: Tourists have a stronger perception of CLGs related to site layout and architectural features than residents, while residents have a stronger perception of cultural customs. Gender-related differences in the perception of CLG are only significant among tourists, with females showing a higher level of CLG perception than males. Residents of different age groups show a "U-shaped" distribution in their perception of CLGs related to site layout, whereas senior tourists have a lower cognitive perception level. People with lower educational backgrounds among residents tend to perceive cultural customs more significantly, whereas tourists with diverse educational backgrounds do not perceive them as having a significant impact. Residence location, visit frequency, duration of residence, and residence nature are key positive factors affecting the perception of CLGs. Our study highlights the significance of considering the users' characteristics in enhancing the refined governance of historical districts.
