Abstract :
This letter proposes a code index modulated chaotic ambient backscatter communication (CIM-CAmBC) over Rayleigh fading channels. In this system, multiple bits of the backscatter device can be transmitted in a radio frequency (RF) source symbol by using CIM technique. Moreover, we design a differential Walsh code matrix for CIM at the backscatter device such that direct-link interference (DLI) can be effectively eliminated at the reader without acquisition of channel state information (CSI). The theoretical error performance of the proposed CIM-CAmBC over multipath fading channels is derived and then verified by simulations. The results demonstrate that the proposed system can outperform the conventional DCSK-AmBC and CIM-DCSK-AmBC by more than 3 dB over fading channels.

Abstract :
Both massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) and physical-layer network coding (PNC) techniques can effectively improve the network throughput. However, for PNC-aided massive MIMO systems, the high-order modulations superimposed at the relay particularly bring computational burden and performance degradation to the signal detection. Thus, this letter proposes an iterative MIMO-PNC detector from double expectation propagation (DEP) as a high-accuracy solution in this large-scale system. By exploiting the PNC characteristic, the summation and difference (SD) information of the user pair messages are first linearly formed and iteratively updated between the DEP detector and the channel decoder. Simulation results show that the proposed iterative method can achieve significant performance gains of 2 dB in various massive MIMO systems, as compared to the non-iterative one and traditional linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) detector.

Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a joint differential pulse position modulation and differential chaos shift key modulation (DPPM-DCSK), where one bit modulates the reference PPM signal by chaotic signal, and the other $m_{c}$ bits are mapped by the position index of this chaotic pulse in the information signal. In particular, in the DPPM-DCSK, the information-carrying PPM signal for the current symbol also serves as the reference for the next symbol. It can avoid the energy and rate wastes in the conventional PPM-DCSK. Moreover, we redesign the differential Walsh codes (WC) for DPPM-DCSK to enable multi-user communications. The numerical bit-error-rate (BER) performance of the proposed DPPM-DCSK-WC over multipath Rayleigh fading channels are derived and then verified by simulations. The results demonstrate that the DPPM-DCSK-WC can achieve performance gains of more than 2 dB over the conventional PPM-DCSK and DDCSK-WC for multi-user scenarios, and this gain can be up to 5 dB in the high-delay channels at a BER of ${{10}^{-4}}$. In addition, the superior performance of the proposed scheme is proved over ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless channels, which indicates its great potential for chaotic-based wireless applications. IEEE

Abstract :
Detection-based tracking is one of the main methods of multi-object tracking. It can achieve good tracking performance when using excellent detectors but it may associate wrong targets when facing overlapping and low-confidence detections. To address this issue, this article proposes a novel multi-object tracker (SCTracker) by exploiting shape constraint and confidence. In the data association stage, an intersection of union (IoU) distance with shape constraints is developed to calculate the cost matrix between tracks and detections, which can reduce the track of the wrong target with the similar position but inconsistent shape. Moreover, the detection confidence is calculated in the update stage of the Kalman filter to improve the track performance with the inaccurate detection result. Experimental results on the MOT 17 dataset show that the proposed SCTracker can improve the tracking performance of multi-object tracking when compared with the state-of-the-art methods.

Abstract :
Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided spatial modulation (RIS-SM) and its variants utilize the indices of receiver antennas and RIS grouping to transmit additional information bits, with the limited performance for large inactivated RIS elements. To address this issue, we propose to exploit an activation mode index for RIS-SM (AMI-RIS-SM), where the RIS can operate in different activation modes during various time slots. In this way, its activation mode index, coupled with the receiver antenna index, can transmit more information bits. Furthermore, we propose maximum likelihood (ML) and low-complexity pre-greedy ML detections to recover the transmitted bits. We then derive the bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed AMI-RIS-SM. The analytical and consistent simulation results show that the proposed scheme can achieve significant performance of up to a 4dB gain over its counterparts. IEEE

Abstract :
Detection-based tracking is a prominent multi-object tracking (MOT) paradigm that utilizes powerful detectors for high tracking performance. However, this method primarily relies on object prediction, leading to error accumulation when objects are occluded or lost. To address this issue, we propose a novel spatial clustering-guided MOT method (SCGTrack). First, we introduce a fast spatial clustering (FSC) algorithm to efficiently group the detections by their spatial information to form clusters. Second, we develop a spatial clustering matching module to reconnect lost trajectories and re-match trajectories within the clusters. By doing so, SCGTrack can continuously track the lost objects as long as the cluster exists, which effectively mitigates long-term occlusion problems. Extensive experiment results on the MOT17 and DanceTrack dataset demonstrate that our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance in terms of tracking accuracy, with an exceptional matching speed of over 800 FPS on a single CPU. Code is available at https://github.com/Yamahhh/SCGTrack.

Abstract :
In this paper, we develop a non-coherent differential chaos shift keying based index modulation by using initial value index (IVI-DCSK) to convey additional information for wireless communications. In the proposed scheme, mc mapped bits are carried by 2mc chaotic sequences by exploiting the quasi-orthogonality of different chaotic signals, while the modulated bit is carried by DCSK. To diminish the multiuser interference, the references allocated to different users are sent in individual time slots, while the information-bearing sequences for the mapped bits of users are sent simultaneously. We then derive the bit error rate (BER) expression of multi-user IVI-DCSK over multipath Rayleigh fading channels. The theoretical and consistent simulation results show that the proposed IVI-DCSK achieves significant gains over the conventional chaotic-based index modulations, i.e., permutation index DCSK (PI-DCSK) and code index modulation DCSK (CIM-DCSK). This gain can be more than 4 dB in fading channels with high multipath delay. In addition, it achieves higher energy and spectral efficiencies over the latter ones. The superiority of the proposed scheme is further verified in practical ultra-wideband (UWB) communications. Thus, this proposed scheme is efficient and promising for chaotic-based low-complexity communications, such as in wireless local area network (WLAN) and indoor applications. IEEE
