Simulation and Modeling of Common Mode EMI Noise in Planar Transformers

Abstract :

The transformer is the key circuit component of the common-mode noise current when an isolated converter is working.The high-frequency characteristics of the transformer have an important influence on the common-mode noise of the converter.Traditionally,the mea-surement method is used for transformer modeling,and a single lumped device is used to establish the transformer model,which cannot be predicted in the transformer design stage.Based on the transformer common-mode noise transmission mechanism,this paper derives the transformer common-mode equivalent capacitance under ideal conditions.According to the principle of experimental measurement of the net-work analyzer,the electromagnetic field finite element simulation software three-dimensional(3D)modeling and simulation method is used to obtain the two-port parameters of the transformer,extract the high-frequency parameters of the transformer,and establish its electromagnetic compatibility equivalent circuit model.Finally,an experimental prototype is used to verify the correctness of the model by comparing the ex-perimental measurement results with the simulation prediction results.

Analysis of Connection Optimization in Planar Transformer Winding Loss EI

Abstract :

Plane transformers are vital components of high-frequency power electronic converters, and the calculation and optimal design of their parallel winding losses pose significant challenges in the design process. This article proposes a theoretical calculation method for winding losses based on impedance matrix and circuit equations, and it derives the significance and acquisition methods of impedance matrix parameters under high-frequency conditions. Building upon the proposed theoretical calculation method for winding losses, the article performs classification analysis of circuit equations to determine the constraints of the optimization problem. It establishes a mathematical model for optimizing winding losses in a single topology and provides a general solution method for designing the optimal structure of winding losses. Finally, experimental measurements are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the optimization method presented in this article. © 2023 IEEE.

Abstract :

Planar PCB high-frequency transformer is the key component that affects the characteristics of conducted common mode (CM) electromagnetic interference (EMI) of switching power supply. In this paper, the calculation method of the effective capacitance of the CM port of the planar transformer is explained, and the effective capacitance of the CM port of the planar transformer is further determined by the simulation method. Then, the method of CM EMI characteristics evaluation of planar transformer insertion loss (IL) is explained and expounded, and its simulation and measurement methods are introduced. Finally, based on the analysis and research of the defects of the original transformer IL model, the high-frequency model of transformer IL is proposed, and the advantages and effectiveness of the proposed high-frequency model in the conduction frequency band are verified by the actual measurement. © 2023 IEEE.

本发明提出一种基于柔性金属箔材料的集成EMI滤波器结构及其设计方法,采用三绕柱结构的EE型磁芯,边柱利用常规绕组绕制形成共模绕组,中柱利用柔性金属箔绕制形成差模绕组同时集成Y电容;所述柔性金属箔绕组的基本单元由L、N、G三线组成,其中L线、GND线和N线之间通过介质层绝缘。在简化设计和降低成本的基础上,利用柔性材料的优势增大结构电容。同时,发挥柔性材料的灵活性,拓宽相同EMI滤波器集成结构的适用性,通过不同的接线形式使其能够满足LC型、τ型、π型、T型滤波器等不同的需求。

反相绕组法是抑制Boost变换器传导共模噪声的有效方法,但影响反相绕组法噪声抑制能力的因素很多,机理复杂,目前尚缺乏明确的反相绕组法优化设计的方法。针对大匝比反相绕组法,通过对共模噪声抑制机理的深入分析,建立大匝比反相绕组法的插入损耗数学模型。基于插入损耗数学模型,明确补偿电容、漏感、反相绕组匝数是影响大匝比反相绕组法噪声抑制能力的关键因素。在此基础上,提出基于低频段共模噪声抑制效果最优原则的大匝比反相绕组法的设计方法。通过优选补偿电容、减小漏感、增大反相绕组等效匝比与漏感比值的方法,可扩大有效频段带宽,极大改善大匝比反相绕组法共模噪声抑制能力。实验结果表明,提出的大匝比反相绕组法可有效抑制B...

Abstract :

This paper briefly introduces the pulse transformer and its main technical indicators, analyzes the influence of parasitic parameters on the output waveform of the pulse transformer from the time domain, and obtains the values of delay time, overshoot voltage and top-drop, which provides reference for the design of the pulse transformer. A pulse transformer with smaller leakage inductance and parasitic capacitance is proposed, which can have faster response speed. © 2022 IEEE.

Abstract :

为了研究开关电源的传导共模电磁干扰(EMI)特性,在分析交错并联PFC+半桥LLC电路传导共模噪声传输机理基础上,提出磁元件可视为共模滤波器的新观点.首先,理论分析磁元件的共模滤波特性,优化设计变压器绕组结构,改善变压器容性分布特性,提高变压器的共模噪声滤波能力.其次,构造反相噪声源补偿抵消原始噪声,提高功率电感共模噪声滤波能力.最后,通过一台音频功放电源样机进行实验验证.实验结果表明,优化磁元件共模EMI滤波特性可有效抑制电路的共模噪声.

Abstract :

As an important role in electromagnetic interference (EMI) solving of switching power supply, the EMI filter's performance and integrated design are of great significance to improve the power density of switching power supply. This paper combines the basic means of magnetic integration and electrical integration of the filter and utilizes the integration advantages of flexible multilayer foils (FMLFs) to integrate the common and differential mode inductor and Y capacitor of the filter into a unit module. At the same time, the design value of the differential mode inductor is increased through the decoupling design of the common and differential mode inductor. Compared with the traditional discrete filter, the integrated filter omits the Y capacitance and reduces the X capacitance, which can effectively reduce the board area of the EMI filter on the premise of consistent performance. Combined with the design process of the integrated filter, to improve the integration, this paper mainly discusses the process of core selection, performance prediction, and performance modeling, and finally verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of this scheme through a noise comparison experiment. © 2022 IEEE.

The reverse phase winding is an effective method to suppress the common mode noise of the PFC circuit. However, to obtain the best effect, it is necessary to quantitatively analyze the parameters of the reverse phase winding and draw effective conclusions, especially for the leakage inductance and turn ratio of the reverse phase winding; there is a lack of in-depth understanding and analysis at present. In this paper, the high-frequency equivalent circuit of the reverse phase winding of the power inductor is established, and the mathematical model is calculated. This paper discusses the influence trend of compensation capacitance, primary and secondary side leakage inductance and the number of turns of reverse phase winding on the noise suppression effect, and gives the optimal design method and carries out experiments, which greatly optimizes the common mode noise of PFC circuit, and puts forward an effective theory. © 2022 IEEE.
