Abstract:
Since the twenty-first century, the revival of the concept and theory of the Anthropocene in contemporary times has led to an increasing influence of red-green perspectives in the field of environmental humanities and social sciences, providing important opportunities for the transformation and innovation of Ecological Marxism and Ecosocialism. The potential for ecological revolution in the Anthropocene will be explicated by analyzing critical political discussions among red-green theorists on the starting point of the Anthropocene, the ideological correlation between the Anthropocene and Western centrism, and the economic exploration of post-capitalist society in Anthropocene. The critique of scientific knowledge and terminology by contemporary red-green theorists constitutes a politically significant attempt at theoretical innovation, creating space for the anti-capitalism camp presently facing serious ecological and social crises. © 2025 The Center for Political Ecology.
