Abstract:

Aiming at the agglomeration in a large area of TiB2 particle reinforced aluminum matrix composites,TiB2/ A356 aluminum matrix composites were prepared by self-designed multi-layered electromagnetic stirring equipment,and effects of multi-layered electromagnetic stirring process(starting stirring temperature,stirring time)on microstructure of TiB2/A356 were investigated combined with the testing means of OM,SEM,EDS,etc. The results indicate that with the starting stirring temperature of 640 ℃ and stirring time of 30 s,effects of multi-layered electromagnetic stirring process on dispersion of TiB2 agglomerates are desirable,and the size of agglomerates is 5~10 μm. The multi-layered electromagnetic stirring process can enhance the convection between the melts,refine α-Al phase,and break TiB2 particle agglomerates,improving the agglomeration phenomenon of TiB2 particles. © 2025 Journal Office of Special Casting and Nonferrous Alloys.
