Abstract:
Based on the finite-element analysis software Ansys Maxwell, this article proposed a simulation method for the core losses of pulsewidth modulation wave voltage excitation with dc bias which solves the problem of core losses calculation of magnetic components with different core structures in power converters. This article points out that the two key factors for core losses simulation are the magnetic properties of magnetic material and the magnetic flux density distribution inside the core. The measurement and modeling of different magnetization curves and core losses are analyzed, which are essential conditions for accurate core losses simulation. Meanwhile, a decoupling and calculation strategy for dc magnetic flux density and ac magnetic flux density peak value within the core are proposed to ensure effective implementation of core losses simulation, and the core losses can be obtained with field calculator based on an accurate core losses model. Furthermore, the article also provides a detailed analysis of the main simulation errors sources and proposes corresponding solutions. Finally, the core losses of ferrite magnetic ring and EE shaped magnetic core are analyzed and calculated using the proposed simulation method, and calculated results are compared with measurement results to verify accuracy.
