Flexural Behavior of Circular Steel Reinforced Concrete-Filled Stainless Steel Tubular Members
Translated Abstract
In this paper,a finite element(FE)model was used to study the pure bending behaviors of the circular steel reinforced concrete-filled stainless steel tubular(SRCFSST)members. The FE calculation results were in a good agreement with the test results. The flexural resistance of the typical circular SRCFSST member was 111.33%higher than that of the concrete-filled stainless steel tubular(CFSST)counterpart. The bending moment taken by the concrete of the typical circular SRCFSST member was also 23.31%higher than that of the CFSST counterpart.Owing to the increasing confinement on the concrete in the compression zone formed by the steel tube and the flange of the profiled steel, the concrete strength in the compression zone was increased by about 20%.The flexural stiffness and resistance of the circular SRCFSST specimen increased with the concrete strength, stainless steel ratio, profiled steel ratio, and gyration radius ratio. The flexural resistance of the circular SRCFSST specimen increased with the yield strength of the stainless steel or the profiled steel.Simplified models for predicting the flexural stiffness and flexural resistance of the circular SRCFSST member were finally proposed.
