Abstract:
In practical engineering, there are combined air gaps formed by floating conductors, which exhibit more complex discharge characteristics compared to air gaps. This paper conducts AC voltage discharge experiments on floating conductors with different diameters and lengths under different electrode structures and combines with electric field simulation for analysis. In the rod-plane gap and small sphere- plane gap, the breakdown voltage curves show an initial increase followed by a decrease as the floating conductor moves away from the high voltage electrode. For the large sphere-plane gap, the breakdown voltage curve shows an increasing trend, and the phenomenon of the discharge the sub-gap between floating conductors occurs when the conductors are near the high voltage electrode, thereby influencing the breakdown voltage. © 2024 IEEE.
