Abstract:
This study is meant at understanding the influence of the pattern of corrosion due to chlorides-induced corrosion on the time-dependent cyclic behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) bridge columns. The chloride ingress in the cross-section of the column is simulated by a multiphysics FE approach taking into account both environmental and material factors. The non-linear cyclic responses of the RC bridge column under corrosion is evaluated by a nonlinear fiber model. A parametric study is finally conducted for a real case study, which aims at unfolding the role of the corrosion pattern on the time variation of capacity and ductility. © Fédération Internationale du Béton - International Federation for Structural Concrete.
