Abstract:
An earthquake-resilient and damage-controllable prefabricated steel joint after earthquake damage was developed. The joint was composed of damage-controllable steel hinges with weakened constrained steel-plate dampers, a core area of the joint constrained by steel sleeves, precast concrete beams and precast columns. First, the prefabricated steel joints were tested under low-cycle reciprocating load. Then, the weakened constrained steel-plate dampers damaged in the steel hinge were replaced, and the second test was carried out. Finally, a comparative test of cast-in-place reinforced concrete joints under low-cycle reciprocating load was conducted to investigate the seismic performances of joints, such as failure mode, hysteresis curve, skeleton curve, bearing capacity, strength degradation, stiffness degradation, energy dissipation capacity and ductility. By analyzing these seismic performance parameters of the prefabricated steel joints in the two tests, the earthquake-resilient performance after earthquake damage was explored. The results show that damage of the prefabricated steel joints concentrates on the replaceable weakened constrained steel-plate dampers in the steel hinges. The prefabricated joints have good bearing capacity, energy dissipation capacity and ductility, and the failure mode and damage degree of the prefabricated joint can be controlled. In the second test, the stiffness of the prefabricated joint decreases in the early stage, but the seismic performance in the later stage is basically the same as that of the first test, which indicates that the function of the prefabricated joints can be restored after earthquake damage. © 2021, Editorial Office of China Civil Engineering Journal.
