Research:Mechanical Behavior of Approach Slab Near Abutment in Semi-integral Bridge
Translated Abstract
The expansion joint exists in the traditional joint bridge abutment, so the approach slab is not affected by the expansion and deflection deformedand with main girder. However the semi-integral bridge does not use the expansion joint of bridge abutment, therefore the resultant effects is needed to take into consideration. In order to analyze the loading force in approach slab near the abutment in semi-integral bridge, the ABAQUS is used and the MIDAS is adopted. It concludes that the greatest impact on the approach slab near the abutment is the horizontal end force. In this work, the concept of influence coefficient is introduced, which involves the ratio of tensile stress between the horizontal force in approach slab and the vertical loads. The influence coefficient in each section of an approach slab is analyzed. The research results show that the end horizontal force in approach slab near the abutment of a semi-integral bridge should not be ignored in the calculation of internal forces in approach slab, and the approach slab design needs taking into consideration both the vertical loading and the side effect from the end horizontal force in slab.
