DAMAGE IDENTIFICATION METHODS USING RESPONSE SURFACE BASED ON FINITE ELEMENT MODEL UPDATING OF BRIDGE STRUCTURES
Translated Abstract
The theoretical significance, the important social and economic benefits can be undoubt edly possessed if the early damage of bridge structures can be identified in timely and accurately, and the suddenly failure or collapse, and others catastrophic accidents could be avoided. In this paper, a damage identification method of bridge structure based on the response surface model updating and the element modal strain energy damage index was proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed damage I dentification method was inspected using model test of the simply supported steel beams.A prestressed continuous rigid frame bridge with large span, named Xiabaishi Bridge, was taken as engineering back ground, and the different bearing damage conditions were generated to validate the proposed damage I dentification method using numerical simulation. It can be revealed that the element modal strain energy damage index is very sensitive to the cracking damage and the bearing damage. The locations and levels of multiple cracking damages and bearing damages can be identified using the proposed damage identifi cation method. So the proposed damage identification method has the great potential in application of the damage identification of practical engineering structures.
