Abstract:
The grafting reaction of tetrabutyl tin (SnBu4) on surface of Pt/HY molecular sieve supercages was studied in vacuum. Composition and structure of the resultant were characterized by FTIR, XRD, UV-Vis, TPR, TPD, TG, BET, ICP, elemental analysis and GC-MS. SnBu4 could react with superficial hydroxy group of Pt/ HY molecular sieve, to result selective and quantitative grafting of SnBu3 fragments onto surface of molecular sieve supercages without deteriorating crystalline structure of the latter. Grafted Pt/HY molecular sieve was quite different from the original in adsorption behavior. The modified Pt/HY molecular sieve, as catalyst, was used in hydrogenation of furfural to furfuryl alcohol. Selectivity of the alcohol on modified Pt/HY molecular sieve with tetrabutyl tin was higher than that on unmodified.
