Abstract:

This paper provides general information on concrete arch bridges in China by statistical data and some typical bridges. The investigated concrete arch bridges are the bridges with spans equal to or longer than 100 m. Our survey shows that there are more than 151 concrete arch bridges built or under construction in China, in which more than 50 with a span longer than 150m and the longest one is 420 m. Based on the statistical data, the span, structural types, construction method and key parameters in arch structures, such as the rib cross-section, rise to span ratio and the arch axis are analyzed. The development trend for the future is suggested and forecasted.
