Abstract:

More than 300 Concrete Filled Steel Tube (CFST) arch bridges have been built and extensive research has been carried out since 1990 in China. In this paper, an overview on the code development of CFST arch bridges in China is given. The under-examination technical code for concrete filled steel tube arch bridges as a national standard of the PR of China is introduced, including design, construction and maintenance of CFST arch bridges. The main structure system and the calculation methods for the ultimate load capacity of the CFST arch ribs as the key issues of the code is introduced in this paper.
