Abstract:

We present several previously unexplored χ(3)-nonlinear laser effects under picosecond excitation in LuVO4 and YbVO4. Among them high-order Stokes and anti-Stokes generation related to discovered SRS-promoting vibration modes, with the manifestations of cross-cascaded χ(3)↔χ(3) lasing processes involving new SRS-active phonons. All recorded spectral components of many-phonon χ(3)-nonlinear generation were identified and attributed to the vibrations of the (VO4)3- structural units of the studied vanadates. © 2012 by Astro, Ltd.
