Abstract:
Accurate modelling of cables needs to consider the bending stiffness occasionally. Based on the existing work, the effect of bending stiffness on cables' static profile is taken into account first, and then the analytical free vibration solutions of horizontal suspension cables under clamped and hinged conditions at both ends are obtained, respectively. Some disadvantages in existing literatures are corrected. These solutions are theoretically more accurate and they can be regarded as the analytical solution of a literature with uniform cables. The results of this study are theoretically meaningful.
