Abstract:
Based on a regression analysis of field test data obtained from provincial Highway 203, the correlations of speed standard deviation and traffic conflicts along two-lane highways were determined in this paper. The relations of speed standard deviation, strength of traffic conflicts, and traffic accident rate are analyzed, and their internal relations are established theoretically. The results show that there is a remarkable correlation between speed standard deviation and strength of traffic conflicts on two-lane highways. Among the diversified regression models used, the correlation coefficient of the polynomial regression model is the highest. © 2013 American Society of Civil Engineers.
